There certainly hasn't been a lack of seismic activity so far in 2020. Just a few days ago, I wrote about the horrific earthquake swarm that Puerto Rico is currently experiencing. More than 1,000 earthquakes have rattled Puerto Rico so far, and as you will see below, it was just hit by another very large earthquake.
But right now volcanic eruptions have taken center stage. In particular, a massive eruption in the Philippines is making headlines all over the world, but what most people don't realize is that several other volcanoes have also blown their tops in spectacular fashion within the past week.
Suddenly, volcanoes all over the globe are shooting giant clouds of ash miles into the air, and this is greatly puzzling many of the experts.
Let's review what we have witnessed over the past 7 days.

Then there are the Deccan Traps in India and the Siberian Traps in Russia that make the Columbia flow look like a mud puddle.
Because we are entering a solar minimum, possibly a grand minimum which increases seismic activity due to changes in gravitational effects of everything in the solar system?

The Deccan Traps are about five times larger than the Columbia Basalt Plain, so the Columbia flows are hardly a “puddle.”
But get this!! This series of eruptions that formed the Deccan Traps are thought to have lasted fewer than 30,000 years! That is astonishing. 200,000 cubic miles of lava rock in 30,000 years - about 6 cubic miles of rock flowing out every single year for 30,000 years.
The Deccan eruptions coincided with the breaking up of the “Gondwana super continent” with the opening of western Indian Ocean.
I wonder what the atmosphere was like during that time.

30 years ago my grandmother came to live with us from the old country. She too asked why volcanoes were suddenly so active. We finally convince her it was because cable TV reported things that were previously unreported.
