That sounds like a tough spot to live in.
I expect this will only increase the pace of Democrat leaning Peurto Ricans to Florida.

Did the quake push Puerto Rico farther from the U.S.? If not; shame.

It won’t get into the news until some mayor in Puerto Rico blames Trump.

Came here specifically to get your reliable local updates. Very glad to know you are doing well, FRiend.

Thanks for checking.
All well on my side of the island except still no power. The other side of the island, the reports are scary. A whole school collapsed. Thanks to our extended Christmas holiday, no kids were present.

Power starting to come back, in critical areas first. The main Medical Center in San Juan already energized. Next is the airport, and after that the financial district (where I live).

Stay safe and thanks for the update.
According to one our relatives in construction management, older bridges, buildings and other older structures get hammered at those levels.
Here in Northern Californicator land we usually start seeing severe damage if the levels get past the high 6 level into the 7 level.
The 3 big quakes, we have had in the last 30+ years took out a lot of the older and unsafe structures. The problem is as structures age, they often get weaker and more prone to severe quake damage.

Going on 10 hours without electricity. No rioting or looting reported. Everyone’s calm.
The second earthquake delayed the start up of the power plants.
