On Monday, during an interview with the Des Moines Register, 2020 presidential hopeful mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Pete Buttigieg said drug possession should not result in jail time.

Buttigieg said, “Incarceration should not even be a response to drug possession. What I have seen is while there continues to be all kinds of harms associated with drug possession and use, it is also the case that we have created in an effort to deal with a public health problem, we have created an even bigger problem — a justice problem, and it’s own form of a health problem when you think about the adverse aspects on a child. We have kids in South Bend who have grown up with the incarnation of a parent as one of their first experiences.

I’m perfectly in favor of no jail time of users. Users only, provided they rat on their pushers and those selling and trafficking drugs are immediately executed after a fair trial.

Apparently he wants blanket “no jail time” for all of those in possession, including pushers, those making and trafficking the stuff. With such a policy the whole country will be destroyed in short order, which is what the rats want so they can rebuild it in a nice commie/nazi image.

Until we start publicly executing drug dealers, nothing will change.

The War on Drugs was/is a joke, and everyone knows it. But no one talks about the consequences, thouseands of OD deaths, legions of drug zombies and homeless taking over our cities, exploding crime rates, both violent and property.

I don’t know if he has but “they” keep forecasting bankruptcy for both SS and Medicare next week. Or something. But, thankfully there is ALWAYS enough money to take care of the trespassers. Grrrrrrr

“Watch the drug use hot spots absolutely explode. Then blame it on a lack of federal funding, apathy of white society.”

More taxes need to support treatment centers, half way houses, counseling, social workers, and any other program they can dream up.

My oldest son was addicted to meth and is in recovery. Incarceration, and threat of longer term incarceration, happened to be one of the most important tools that helped put him on the road to recovery. From experience, I think Mayor Pete is peddling a bad idea.

My son has been clean for about 18 months now.

Don’t touch it! Don’t even look at it or even in the general direction.

Liberals In a couple of decades, if left alone to their life styles, will have destroyed themselves via their abortions, drug useage, homo sexual life styles, both DNA wise and soul wise due to their stupid and terminal life choices.

Here we have another: Darwin Award Winner!

Not shopping, just trying to understand if Buttgag’s policy is open ended or has limits.

Probably not, then. “They” are forecasting that the whole house of cards will collapse at some unspecified time in the future.

If the government starts to run out of OPM, it will be interesting to see whether they push off older people before drug addicts, or vice-versa. And what about those who are both?

I’m always perplexed about legalization of drugs. Does that mean street dealers playing doctor and pharmacists would have state licenses for distribution?

No, it means that, as in the several states that have legalized marijuana, store owners would be licensed and regulated - and would (absent excessive taxation) take many customers away from street dealers.

Does this mean all are innocent when people die of drug abuse from addicts getting drugs by these people/

The seller of the legal drug alcohol is not generally held liable when someone fatally overdoses on the drug they sold. Do you think they should be?

I actually agree with him on this. If you’re stupid enough to do drugs go ahead and take yourself out of the gene pool as quick as possible.

I appreciate it. He seems to be doing pretty well now. Recovery and re-building your life is a long hard process. It takes quite a bit of help of the non-enabling kind. You have to be thankful for today because circumstances might change tomorrow . . . and there are a lot of tomorrows left in his life.

Stop trying to make sense. Everyone knows that keeping drugs illegal has made drug use extremely rare. Drug laws keep people from using drugs.

My oldest son was addicted to meth and is in recovery.

My prayers for continued recovery, for him and for your sake.

Incarceration, and threat of longer term incarceration, happened to be one of the most important tools that helped put him on the road to recovery.

But didn't stop him from becoming addicted, it seems.

May he find strength to stay clean in the years ahead. An ex-girlfriend of mine found her way into jail with her end cycle alcoholism (rubbing alcohol and mouthwash) courtesy of me and that was the kick in the ass she needed to get on the sober road. She attended a program inside and she couldn’t run away from it.

Those seven weeks in the clink are basically why she is alive today. This year she will be 10 years sober and a close friend.

She thanks me for saving her life but I tell her it really was entirely her decision to stay sober.

The further away you get from the addiction years the more perspective you tend to gain and what you have to lose.
