Michael Bloomberg Fails to Garner Support Nationally, Poll Shows

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is failing to garner significant support for his longshot presidential bid nationally, a Reuters/Ipsos poll released this week shows.

Bloomberg, who signaled his intention to jump into the crowded Democrat primary field this week by filing paperwork to appear on the ballot in Arkansas’ March 3 presidential primary, is failing to see any sort of significant support nationally, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The poll, which surveyed 2,235 adults between November 12–14, 2019, showed only three percent of Democrats and independents supporting the former New York City mayor.

Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) led in support with 19 percent, followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) with 13 percent. Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D) followed with six percent support, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) fell to three percent, tying with Bloomberg despite a months-long presence in the race.

The remaining candidates garnered two percent support or less:

#National @Reuters/@Ipsos Poll (11/12-14): Biden 19% Sanders 19% Warren 13% Buttigieg 6% Harris 3% Bloomberg 3% Yang 2% Booker 1% Klobuchar 1% Gabbard 1% Bullock 1% Bennet 1% Steyer 1% Castro 1% Delaney 0% Williamson 0% Messam 0% Sestak 0%https://t.co/WdZUskWK96

Bloomberg is registering at 3%, just behind Harris and ahead of Yang, despite having spent $0 campaigning and not even officially being in the primaries. He's presumably figuring out, based on his assessment of his odds in the primaries (as well as in the general), whether he should spend the billions necessary to mount a credible presidential run. He spent $250m bulldozing his Democratic opponents in the process of winning 3 mayoral terms in a city that tends to vote 2/3 Democratic, to the point even a Commie nobody like De Blasio got 72% during his first mayoral run.

Right. You really can’t judge until he makes it official and gets out in the public eye.

What surprises me is how many people thought he was a good mayor. Compared to de Blasio, maybe he was.

More interesting, I think, is how Deval Patrick (who HAS officially announced) will do. He and Obama are buddies, I’ve heard. Maybe Obama will give him a boost of some sort. Who knows?

Maybe around NY, and the New England states....he might pull some big votes. But in the south, zero. And I suspect out west beyond Texas...it’s a marginal number of states.

Maybe if he had youth (he turns 78 in Feb 2020). Maybe if he was black, it’d help. Maybe if Warren or Biden weren’t in the election already, it’d help. But even if you threw Biden up against Mayor Pete...half of Democratic voters would still side with Mayor Pete. Bloomberg should have run back in 2008.

Bloomberg was never a serious contender, too much history of doing what was necessary to keep NYC safe for the Left to stomach.

But note how flat everything is - perfect conditions for Skunk Cabbage to ‘rescue the party’ at the convention!

Did anybody see this guy looking so uncomfortable in a diner this week? I never saw him in the subway (taking the two stops every day before getting in his armored SUV) but if he looked as miserable as he did in that diner...

Shows the Warren decline rather starkly, shows Bernie's rise at her expense, shows that Buttplug peaked and now on a plateau, and shows that Bloomberg's recent entry has garnered more support than the also-rans who've been at it for months -- and he's just started. Thanks Zhang Fei.

What surprises me is how many people thought he was a good mayor...

The media would always show him taking the subway to work. Just like regular folks.

Actually, he’s not doing that badly. Hasn’t spent a dime and he’s ahead of more than half the field. He could easily blow away his hand to mouth funded opponents by spending some serious money. I’m wondering if he’s just too cheap to do it.

He just apologized for “Stop and Frisk” while he was mayor in an attempt to increase his commie depth.
