New Zealand firefighters performed a powerful haka in Auckland on Wednesday to honor the 9/11 first responders.
The group were filmed in their service uniforms in two rows as they performed the Maori tradition.
A crowd of dignitaries and other firefighters dressed in their operational gear and were seen watching on.
Hakas are generally performed as a sign of great respect and are often presented at funerals, celebrations or sporting events.
Over 200 firefighters climbed Auckland's Sky Tower as a tribute to those who died in the attacks on the World Trade Centre.
Three chiefs from the New York Fire Department also attended the event.

I'm a volunteer firefighter here in Australia. When I first began training for that role, I was told of a firefighters creed.
If lives are in danger,
Though your own be in doubt
You have to go in
You don't have to come out.
Cannot help thinking of that everytime I see footage of New York's Bravest on September 11, 2001.

Wasn’t it though?
I know Nothing of Maori Tradition or the haka but you can tell it is something that means a lot to them and it seemed almost like a warrior’s tribute.
And it was great of them to do that.

The Kiwi's are awesome people.
In WWII they sent a higher percentage of draft age men to the war than did either the USA or England.
They did so with no draft in place.

That's impressive. Many thanks to them.
(My own father was over the age to be drafted, but as soon as Pearl Harbor happened, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps - many of his friends also enlisted then. Following similar sentiments and a similar situation, a lot of Americans enlisted because of 9/11, too.)

I was in a university rugby club in the States. We don’t play from childhood like the New Zealanders. We couldn’t touch them or the ball much. It was hilarious. ;)

When I went to New Zealand last year, the Number One thing on my list of things to do was to buy an All Blacks Jersey.
