Save us from the pointless burdens of the TSA
NY Post ^ | 9 Sep 2019 | Karol Markowicz

The people shuffle along, shoeless, ready for their full-body check. Their belongings have been taken from them. If they question any part of this, in any way, they are quickly removed and taken to an undisclosed location.

No, it’s not prison — it’s the security check at your local airport. Why do we stand for it?

The Transportation Security Administration was established in the wake of 9/11, when Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act. Before that, private security agencies hired by the airlines handled security at the airports.

After the attacks, people demanded the government “do something” — and “something” is exactly what it did: It took over the role of airport security and bloated it to its current size, with more than 50,000 employees and a budget of more than $7 billion.

It’s now fully 18 years after 9/11. Perhaps it’s time to rethink our airport-security system and realize that what we implemented in our most fearful moments no longer serves us well.

I have a business trip scheduled later this month. I’ll be driving the 10 hours rather than subjecting myself to the idiocy of U.S. airline travel.

This is now a full blown governmental bureaucracy. Thank You Shrub!

on 911 the screeners did their jobs. Box cutters were ok. Now we’re paying big bucks to put up with this.

Maybe I can get my $8 bottle of boot leather conditioner back that they threw away on me because of its obvious risk.

Meanwhile, Farouk, and Muhammad are loading the cargo. While Muhammad and Muhammad drive the catering truck through the gate, without inspection, right up to the aircraft and have direct access to the entire vehicle. Including the cockpit.

I don’t.

I quit flying when Bush Jr. invented the TSA.

Amen.

9-11 will not happen again because anyone who acts-up on a plane now risks being beaten to death by his fellow passengers.

Michael Chertoff is a strong contender for THE MOST CORRUPT Government Official in the HISTORY of the Republic.

And that is really saying something.

If he’s still around when CW 2.0 comes he’ll be one of the first to meet a lamppost.

Almost immediately after the TSA stupidity began I asked my wife a simple question:

"Couldn't a terrorist with a single hand-held missile kill all of us in the plane after we got in the air?"

The answer is obviously "yes"--and that was the tell that passenger safety was nothing but a stupid cover story.

TSA was created to train the American people to submit to authority and obey stupid commands.

And the security theater has expanded. They now have security checks at places such as Disney and ball parks. It’s enough to make one nostalgic for a time when you could just walk into such places.

My wife has to restrain me from going off and getting arrested and banned.

“I have a business trip scheduled later this month. I’ll be driving the 10 hours rather than subjecting myself to the idiocy of U.S. airline travel.”

My wife and I are having one of our rare heated discussions related to this:

We just renewed our Cali driver’s license and do to snafu’s on the DMV, our new licenses will not allow us to do air travel.

I’m saying fine, and she is saying we need the licenses to fly.

The article is flat-out wrong on one key point. The TSA wasn’t created because the people wanted the government to “do something.” The TSA was created so the airlines could get out of the passenger screening process and shield themselves from civil liability when something goes wrong.
