It seemed that way initially after 9/11, but I think the airlines have had enough of their flights being delayed and passengers missing flights.
I fly regularly for work, and when Philly gets backed up, they just chuck the rulebook entirely and herd people past the scanners. No need to open your bags or take off your shoes.
They “compensate” by having a bomb/drug dog at the entry point of the security line maze.
If they can throw the book out the window when convenient, there’s no reason to have it in the first place. Grade A hoax.
How freedom goes away. They enact a law that takes away your freedom in one situation, and give it a nice sounding name. TSA. Homeland Security. No one realizes that some freedom has been lost. They enact another law. Asset Forfeiture. A nice name for theft by government. Little by little they take away one freedom at a time, each time masking it by calling it something that lulls us into a false sense of warm fuzzies. One day, one or two people realize what has happened and raise the alarm. They are told to shut up.
Freedom gone. Land of the free no more.
9/11 was an enormous victory for Islam and the Left. We grew government,have Islamic America hating politicians, gave away liberties and to add insult to injury we lost the so called War on Terror (the Mideast is turned upside down and we are in f-ing PEACE TALKS with the Taliban as we are still losing soldiers).
The symphony crowd is quite terrifying for sure! ;-)
If you already have a passport, the renewal process is even easier: new photo + $150 bucks and you're done.
Or, the really big secret is simply get a TSA card for $25. Same Real ID requirements as either a passport or CA DL, but you can take care of it in mere minutes @ the post office and/or city hall rather than hours @ the DMV.
Under no circumstances should anyone be willing to let the CA DMV handle/process your Real ID paperwork. With all the illegals getting licenses, the DMV has moved into entirely new levels of clown show many thought was previously unachievable.
Rather, just stick with the regular CA license requirements for driving only. Easy breezy.
As to TSA, I decided to channel my inner Winston Smith and finally tearfully accept Big brother as my loving, all caring authority figure. In that sense, our family all went through the formal 'global entry' program (including a detailed background check and sit down interview with a customs/border control officer). Once you have your GE card in hand, you automatically qualify for TSA pre-check, as well as expedited CA/MX car entry/exit.
I haven't gone through a "normal" TSA line in years. We travel by air 1-2x every month, and it's with real pity as I look upon the citizen donkeys all lined up to submit while I breeze on through. (Of course, I already submitted to an anal exam before, but as the memories fade, the real time exposure is always a shock.)
Terrorists just assume that Royals' fans have suffered enough.
The best way to illustrate this process is to imagine yourself owning a farm. Good animal husbandry dictates that one should emphasize health, production and behavior. If any of the livestock begin to consume more than they produce, and/or are becoming increasingly unmanageable, then it's time to cull the individual/herd.
Western subjects are no different - after admirably performing their function of protecting the lords from a new group of bosses wanting to horn in on the action (Nazis), it was time to replace them by substituting, new less demanding stock. We see it in the UK with muzzies, and here in the USA with illegals.
9/11 was the perfect cause for accelerating this process; the proof of the pudding is in the taste. In this case, the bitter after taste of anyone waking up from a dream (denial) and finally casting aside all illusions of fantasy.
Now you know why it was so easy to load those workers on the trains to paradise.
Nobody should have to bribe airline security to respect their Constitutional rights.
Abolish the TSA and return security to the private airlines who have an interest in balancing the need for security with the need to attract paying customers.
Israel is surrounded by hostile countries that want it wiped off the map. Yet they do an excellent job of screening out terrorists without resorting to the oppressive tactics of the TSA. Maybe we could learn something from them.
Israel also defends their borders from illegal immigrants...smart folks!
Anyone still using could, should and/or would with respect to western governance may be the perfect candidate for the type of conservative porn regularly served up @ FR.
I know it's difficult for many to understand - what with denial so firmly entrenched - but the only issue is power: who has it, who can wield it and how it's used.
We live in a post-constitutional nation, one devoid of an equal application of the law. As such, once fully recognized, individuals can finally free themselves from crippling beliefs and other popular delusions.
There is the law, there is the government, there are agencies such as the TSA (yes, I know ostensibly an NGO), and there is you, the law abiding, tax paying citizen donkey.
Go ahead, make the leap to awareness. It's not that bad, and it does wonderful things for your outlook and approach to life. No more stress, no more false hope, just a rationale understanding of what's goin' down, and how events may pan out.
The only reason TSA exists is to condition people into being mindless drones in the face of ‘authority’. I think it’s really sad that so many “conservatives” bought into their crap.
I’m thinking things could be turning around, we got rid of David Glass, to someone who loves KC and finally someone who doesn’t see good ball players as commodity to be sold for a handful of poor players, and pocket the cash!
Imagine, a Walmart exec uses the Royals as some cheap Chinese commodity!

I would call the “peace talks” what it really is — the US negotiating the terms of surrender... ours. We were never going to utterly destroy Afghanistan, nor were we going to stay forever. So what did we expect?
You should have gotten the Real ID. California only issues the other ones to cater to illegals. Yes, I live in California and yes, I have the Real ID.
TSA, not ASA. The hook is that the "T" stands for "Transportation", not "Airline".
So . . . how long is it until "Transportation" is interpreted as covering roads, highways, Interstates, etc. as "security" is extended there.
Oops. Just looked it up - TSA is defined as "an agency established in 2001 to safeguard United States transportation systems and insure safe air travel."
The Camel's Nose comes to mind.
