It seemed that way initially after 9/11, but I think the airlines have had enough of their flights being delayed and passengers missing flights.
I fly regularly for work, and when Philly gets backed up, they just chuck the rulebook entirely and herd people past the scanners. No need to open your bags or take off your shoes.
They “compensate” by having a bomb/drug dog at the entry point of the security line maze.
If they can throw the book out the window when convenient, there’s no reason to have it in the first place. Grade A hoax.
