Maine was once 100% the way life should be. Since bammy let somalis in, parts of Maine have gone to crap.

VT and NH are in the top four, which puts three states that border each other as three of the top four safest states to live in.

All are very gun friendly Constitutional carry states,IIRC.

Coastal Maine is a beautiful place in AUGUST. Camden, ME is one of the prettiest places I have ever been in the world again in AUGUST.

I have also been in Boothbay, ME(middle coast) for 4th of July once. It was fogged in with a high of 55 degrees. I had to buy a sweatshirt because it was so cold.

There are also millions of these small birds there called mosquitoes. This is why everyone in Maine and here in NH has a screened in porch on their home. You can not sit outside in the evening without one.

There are a lot of good things too. I have lived in southern NH for 34 years. I much prefer it over western NY state or central NY state where I grew up.

For a lesson in assimilation, go talk to the white residents of Lewiston-Auburn about their Somali “settlers.”

That part of Maine is beautiful as well as startlingly rural and empty! I’ve traveled it a lot. And yes, you see a lot of Trump stickers and signs as well as the occasional Confederate flag. Once a reliably Republican state and now a cesspool thanks to the hippies and the vegans who transformed lower Maine into northern Massachusetts.

Camden is pretty but wealthy and lib, I think. The more I go to northeastern coastal Maine, the more cottages are lost and replaced by McMansions. I’ve been going there since I was six years old!

Exactly...

I can’t imagine it not scaring the carp out of folks thinking of committing crime knowing every person in the room may kill you at a moment’s notice if you pull something bad.

It is a deterrent to crime.

Once one gets past the Ellsworth/Bar Harbor tourist scene while traveling east on Rte. 1, that trend subsides somewhat, but still happens..nothing like down state though. The summer season brings lots of tourists, “flat-landers” and traffic even up thru that depressed area. Most of em headed to Nova Scotia, etc. However, there are usually two mass exodus out of there each year: 1. Labor Day. You can see em all heading south pulling travel trailers, RVs, ATVs, boats etc. It’s literally a “mass exodus” to get out of there. 2. When the outside ambient temp hits 30 degrees and/or it snows. That exodus is also a sight to behold....LOL....watching “flat-landers” trying to manipulate vehicles in ice & snow is a hoot in the hilly areas. Once those happen, the area becomes a lot quieter, peaceful, a whole lot less traffic....and back to desolation which is the way I like it but hardly ever can stay to enjoy it due to business/family issues.

The Camden area of Penobscot Bay and the islands off shore really are one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. However, you really need to be on a sailboat to get the full appreciation of it.

However, it is only like that for two months a year. The rest of the time it is cold, raw and nasty weather wise.

Yep...that’s what we mostly use. That, or Ben’s 100% DEET.
I almost hate to put that 100% stuff on the skin though....LOL

Been there, done that. What assimilation?
IF they could get away with it, they’d run their azzes outta there and back to Somalia, or NY, or CA...and might yet before it’s over.

The winters are not quite that bad.

The winters are not nine months long. Last winter was rather mild, with little snow. Major rain storms last January and February instead of snow storms.

I’ve been in Eastern Maine for 27 years, and I’ve never seen the temperature stay below zero for weeks and weeks. It gets cold, to be sure, just not for that long a stretch.

The summers can be hot and humid.

Trump carried the Second District (which covers 80% of the state) by 10 points and received one electoral vote as a result.

This is Second Amendment country, to be sure.

Democrat Governor John Baldacci let the Somalis in about 25 years ago. Long before Obama. Most of them are in the Lewiston area, some in Portland.

I’ve never seen one in the 27 years I’ve lived here.

Then again, I don’t get out much. lol
