The winters are not quite that bad.

The winters are not nine months long. Last winter was rather mild, with little snow. Major rain storms last January and February instead of snow storms.

I’ve been in Eastern Maine for 27 years, and I’ve never seen the temperature stay below zero for weeks and weeks. It gets cold, to be sure, just not for that long a stretch.

The summers can be hot and humid.

Trump carried the Second District (which covers 80% of the state) by 10 points and received one electoral vote as a result.

This is Second Amendment country, to be sure.

Shhhhhh...don’t tell anybody...LOL
I was born and raised there. Weather changes on a dime. Been deer hunting on Thanksgiving Day in a t-shirt. The next day, 20 degrees with 8” of snow on the ground. I’ve seen it snow every month of the year except July & August (not all in one year). Flipped hamburgers at one 4th of July family cookout....in a winter parka (48 degrees with a brisk breeze). On the other hand, I’ve sweated like a pig in August with humid 85-90 degree heat and no air conditioning....usually headed over to Cutler or Eastport on those hot days to get a breath of cool ocean air. Last winter was mild compared to the year before. Lots of snow that previous year. Summer was late coming this year. Pretty cool weather right up thru June.
My senior year (1973) at UMO had 2-3 weeks where we hardly ever saw a day above zero. When it finally warmed up to about 35, it felt like a heat wave...lol. It was enough for me to get a job waaaaay to the south when I got out. Happiness was that cold-azz, mosquito/black fly-ridden place in the rear view mirror. Now, after living/working in heavily populated areas and really hot climates for years, I love going back there.
