Ex-NOAA scientist now 'climate-change denier'

Censoring evidence, “fiddling” with data and silencing skeptics were part of life at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, according to a former NOAA scientist who no longer believes carbon dioxide is

Rex Fleming admitted that while he worked for NOAA, he attributed global warming to carbon dioxide despite “having doubts.”

“Eventually I just read enough to realize it’s a totally wrong direction,” he said in a podcast interview July 25 with British journalist James Delingpole.

“And so, in the past 10 years, I’d say, I’ve been on the other side.”

His conversion, however, has shut him out of academic journals, despite his Ph.D. in atmospheric science.

The author of “The Rise and Fall of the Carbon Dioxide Theory of Climate Change,” he told Delingpole he had to travel to Europe to have his 2018 paper on climate change peer-reviewed and published.

“The ‘deniers’ have so much evidence,” he said, while the global-warming believers “bring nothing to the table of scientific proof.”

Fascinating comment about the affect of CO2, combustion, and biological activity.

You aroused my curiosity enough to do some Googling. Three search observations I recorded:

So the question is: how much does the Earth's internal (core) heat contribute to the warmth on the surface of the Earth?

And a corollary question: if our inner core's heat should suddenly die, could humans survive using only the Sun's heat?

Delingpole is the best on this subject.

At such time that the Earth’s core goes cold, the magnetic field that protects us from solar radiation also goes away, so it may not matter if the sun is enough, as it may be too much.

“The temperature of the molten inner core of Earth is 10,800 degrees F. “ Pffffttttt. Algore said it was millions of degrees. Case closed!

Love this cartoon. Many thanks for posting!

Actually I listen to Scott Adams podcasts fairly often. I also notice the climate expert in this cartoon looks a lot like a caricature of Michael Mann, the Hockeystick Hoaxster.

CO2 is essential for life on earth. It is food for plants.
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants process CO2 into carbon and give off oxygen which we mammals and other species breath. When we breath we exhale more CO2 than we inhale.

“Warm water gives up carbon dioxide which normally stays dissolved in colder water...”

Not just the water. The rocks in the earth’s crust also release CO2 they have sequestered as the temperature rises.

“So the question is: how much does the Earth’s internal (core) heat contribute to the warmth on the surface of the Earth?”

It’s a smaller factor than the sun’s heat by far, but it does make some not insignificant contribution.

“if our inner core’s heat should suddenly die, could humans survive using only the Sun’s heat?”

We probably could, but any interruption in the balance and feedback cycles could be far ranging, because each element has effects on the other elements in the system, and we definitely do not understand all of the interdependencies of the system in great detail.

The real problem if the core “went out” is that we would probably no longer have a global magnetic field protecting the earth, since that seems to be generated only by an active molten core. No magnetic field would mean very little protection from the solar wind, so more of our upper atmosphere would be stripped off, and more UV radiation would be bombarding the surface. That’s a pretty deadly combination that would probably lead, in time, to the Earth looking a lot more like Mars.

Trump should appoint this guy to be ‘climate denier Czar’.

Obama got to make up a lot of offices. lol.

I just want Leftist’s in hysterics.

I have been so entertained lately.

Oh great, now their going to blame me for global warming because, I suck water out of the ground robbing the earth of it’s core coolant.

Wow, some great answers! And fascinating to learn how interdependent all these natural forces are in making our planet habitable.

And there I was, a sailor with a trusty magnetic compass on my ship’s bridge with no idea the magnetic field was protecting me.

I’ll bet 90% of all laymen who argue about climate change (one way or the other) have never heard of the magnetic field’s positive contribution. I certain heard nothing about this in high school, but it seems like essential scientific knowledge.

Now, do we know if moons and planets in our Solar System are also protected by a molten core of iron creating their own magnetic fields?

I like your tagline...

Is there a formula that describes it?

ADVOCACY = MY_RESEARCH_FIELD x FUNDING2

I’m not a denier, not at all, just a skeptic. I’d like to see Nuke power plants everywhere, but since the GW proponents aren’t serious, this will never happen.

So one theory regarding Mars is the reason its atmosphere is so thin is because it has no mag field to keep the solar wind from stripping it away. Its also theorized that its core has gone cold, and the solidifying of core is the cause of the giant canyon/canals. Essentially that the crust got dried out and cracked on a planetary scale.

I don’t recall specifics, but I think some of the planets have mag fields while others do not. The moon does not, which is one reason it is believed to be dead inside. Obviously planets/moons with volcanic activity still have molten cores and the potential for magnetic fields.

The only thing left out is all the money paid out to those that “research and report” only what supports human caused climate change.
