Thanks, Magnum44.

It’s really fascinating hearing these ideas from space scientists. I learned a lot today. Great.

Last week, Michael Savage put on a good program about the quest to go to the Moon and the importance of Americans to become “astronauts” in whatever career they choose to get into. We need that spirit going forward. Another good reason to support more NASA work and going to Mars.

I read your profile and agree that gaining knowledge from people experts in other fields is a wonderful benefit of FR.

And it was interesting to read about your Navy tailhook experience and it’s pretty cool that you moved into aviation engineering design after the Navy.

Actually, that is one way the earth is quite unique. No other planet or moon that we know of has a global magnetic field like the earth. They do have some more local magnetic fields that offer some protection but those are produced by magnetized ore deposits in the crust, and they only protect smaller areas of the surface to some degree, depending on their field strength.

The sun does have its own magnetic field too, of course, but none of the other rocky bodies in the solar system seem to have one now, though scientists think Mars and Venus might have been large enough to have had active cores producing them at some time in the past. The moons and Mercury are too small, I think, for them to have had the type of core needed to produce one, and the gas giants seem to operate on a different set of dynamics so their cores probably never can have the kind of composition that would produce the magnetic dynamo effect to create a field.

Actually, I was wrong now that I looked it up, the gas giants do actually produce their own magnetic field of significant strength. So it just seems like Earth is unique among the rocky planets in having a strong planetary magnetic field.

Published by Springer.

I can boil it down a lot quicker than a book.

>>There is virtually NO CO2 in the atmosphere.<<

So the question is: how much does the Earth's internal (core) heat contribute to the warmth on the surface of the Earth?

Well, if you dig down a short depth, like 20 feet, it's a constant 55 degrees.

Depending on where you are, the "frost line" varies from 3-10 feet.

What, is the molten core starting to freeze up?

have never heard of the magnetic field’s positive contribution

Yeah the Van Allen belts, magnetosphere, Northern Lights etc etc.

We learned it in Junior High. I suppose the AGW freaks made the educRATs stop teaching it.

LOL! Yeah, those AGW freaks have an interest in making the Earth’s atmosphere a mystery.

I have seven kids born between 1980 and 2009 (I was sent down to the minors for a while).

So, I have been following the garbage in “children’s books” for a long time. One of my favorite “children’s” stories which won some medal was about a father who ran his kid over, breaking both his legs, because he was late for a poker game.

Anyway, the chances that any “children’s” book that is not a classic Grimm fairytale or some other such, especially if it was published after 1968, contains leftist or sodomite propaganda is 90%.

This is sold under a “learn to read” theory that holds that learning to read proceeds in stages which are properly drawn out over many years.

Any acquaintance with pre-1960s education knows this is false. Children went from McGuffey readers to the Bible and Shakespeare in one step. My mother taught me to read before kindergarten, by second grade I could read anything.

The Scholastic Book Club and all the rest of the “teach reading” industry is uniformly leftist or perverted or both.

Being blunt depends on authority, which, when ineffectual, requires force. I would be more persuasive, which requires some kind of art.

OK.

78% = Nitrogen (is that a "greenhouse gas"?)
21% = Oxygen (is that a "greenhouse gas"?)
.9% = Argon
99.9% is the total so far

Is the rest of that 0.1% (1/10th of a percent) CO2?

And an image mapping the layers of the atmosphere for a 2-page summary.

The answer is NO.

CO2 = .04% (4/100ths of a percent)

That's 4/100ths of a hundredth.

That's pretty close to "No CO2" if you ask....well anyone with a clue.

(and I rounded up from 0.0391%)

It is like the Communists under Stalin, putting people to death when the grain crop didn’t come in.

The Democrats are Stalinists. It is frightening.

That firing is a pure example.

The 10 Amendments would be the first thing to go if these miscreants ever took power.

Agree, but there are probably many more variables than that contributing - which makes modeling them all by computer simulation highly suspect - at best. Particularly when humans (the climate modelers) seem to throw out data points and alter programs when they don’t fit their hypothesis.
