Washington Post: Democrats should confront their revolutionaries before it’s too late
Washington Post ^ | July 16, 3019 | By Henry Olsen Columnist

Posted on 07/17/2019 12:21:29 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

It’s been decades since Democrats had to confront a genuine challenge from the far left...

The cracks in the party were most evident last week after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) casually deployed the race card against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). To be sure, Ocasio-Cortez’s side swipe — implying Pelosi singled her and her progressive allies out for criticism because they are women of color — was bad enough. But the real depth of the challenge Democrats face is better seen by looking at comments from Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti...

Observers may wonder why Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff are engaging in this internecine battle. From the viewpoint of the evolutionary left, such efforts are futile and self-defeating...

Chakrabarti let the cat out of the bag in a recent extensive profile in The Post magazine. According to the report, Chakrabarti told an aide for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), a presidential candidate, that his boss’s Green New Deal “wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.” “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti says, “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.” You can’t get much more revolutionary than that...

It’s no coincidence that the Green New Deal speaks as much about ensuring quality jobs and helping “frontline and vulnerable communities” as it does about reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also calls for an “economic mobilization on a scale not seen since World War II,” uprooting the U.S. economy with the government calling the shots...

If the entire U.S. economy must be uprooted — if the United States is inherently a “racist system” — then those who propose evolutionary change are as culpable as those who oppose any change at all. They must be opposed as strenuously...

“And now President Trump has forced Nancy Pelosi and her entire democrat caucus to embrace and coalesce with these radical un-American leftist socialists. “

yep. President Trump just maneuvered the Dem Party into making their radical left the new face of their Party ... right when everyone in the world, including their leftist media allies, know that doing that is completely insane and guaranteed to get them totally crushed in the 2020 elections ...

“Is it too late?”

For the Dems, yes it’s too late ... too much video of their insanity in the debates and too much focus on The Four Horsewomen of the Democrat Apocalypse ...

plus their uber-leftist branch that the Dem Party catered to for far too long has been given the time to grow unmolested and to bore their tentacles into Party like a cancer that can’t be removed without killing the patient ... unfortunately for the Dem Party, NOT removing the uber-leftist cancer is going to kill the patient as well ...

“But what is more brilliant is yet to unfold.”

I think where President Trump is heading with all of this is to for ALL Congressional elections to be national in nature; that is the only issue is in every election in the choice between the many insane planks of the Dems “America Last” platform vs. President’s Trump’s “America First” platform, thus putting EVERY Dem candidate on the spot as to whether they do or don’t support those insane planks, and thereby alienating one portion or the other of the Dem voter base, regardless of the response from each Dem candidate ...

(summarizing your post)

“two choices (for the Democrat leadership):
1) Throw the radicals overboard, or
2) Continue to let the radicals be the face of the Democrat Party”

If they do #1, they risk splitting the party in half, possibly even with a leftist Third Party candidate running in 2020. If they do #2, then, of course Middle America will want nothing to do with them.

Bottom Line: Checkmate.

"Washington Post: Democrats should confront their revolutionaries before it’s too late"

The compost will probably publish an article titled: "Hawaii should improve their air-attack early-warning system before the japs attack."

the Atlantic isn’t a barrier to the spread of islam . Conversion of Carib/SA populations (mostly women, codeword sisters) allows for a sense of moral superiority over real or imagined ‘oppressors’ - expressed in calls for jihad, disguised as ‘social justice’, and passive aggressive or actual aggressive behavior towards anyone not of the ‘woke’ poor and and their grievance-addicted parrots. A meme that plays very well in former Spanish colonies who wish to mask their own brutally savage histories pre-colonization. And why mooses are such open border supporters.

see here: “ Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Colombia” (sound familiar?)

Thanks JimRob. The Washington ComPost has hitched its wagon to a different falling star, otherwise they'd be pumping their fists and chanting the same brainless leftist slogans.

You’re spot on but it requires a certain age here....say 55

To understand we’ve been here before sorta

It’s worse this time and the demographic complexion shift is what has made this so evident

And unlike the canards of the hippie yippie youth vote of 1972 when kids literally majority support d Nixon

This time it’s overwhelmingly youth vote skews left especially is outside the south or rural Midwest and mountain states

We have out work cut out for us

In a sadly amusing way the left has achieved power Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin and Leonard Weinglass could only dream about

Of course they never had homosexual marriage and open borders and 50 million dead from abortion on their to do list

After End The War and Desegregation Now they went sorta flat on ideas

And the thing is, you have to stop these animals EARLY, before they get stronger. Pelosi missed her chance with Omar at the beginning (even though it still would have been difficult then), now there’s really nothing she can do.

They basically threw Trump a hanging curveball, and now Trump’s swinging away.

I have predicted for years that Islam would sweep away folk Catholicism in all non-white SA countries, right up to the Rio Grande. Only Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay may stand.

It is amazing to me that we don’t really have a Mexico policy. Mexico is the greatest threat to our national security imaginable, and people here are going on and on about the Middle East like it was actually, you know, IMPORTANT.

The most important project the next President could possibly take on is to Make Mexico Great Again. Make Mexico:USA = Croatia:Hungary, build a much shorter wall on their southern border, put your feet up on the desk and have a scotch.

They could follow Kamala's example and backpedal. In fact, winning the primaries and then moving back "to the center" is a standard strategy. McGovern in 1972 forgot to do that.

Hobson’s Choice

Cambridge Dictionary:
“a situation in which it seems that you can choose between different things or actions, but there is really only one thing that you can take or do:”

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/hobson-s-choice?q=Hobson%E2%80%99s+choice

Collins Dictionary:

“the choice of taking what is offered or nothing at all”

https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/hobsons-choice

Merriam-Webster’s is the strangely wrong one here.
