It’s disappointing news for the LGBTQ community as Pride month is celebrated across the US.
An alarming new statistic from the annual Accelerating Acceptance report finds that young Americans — generally regarded as the most socially tolerant generation — are less comfortable with LGBTQ people than in previous years.
The survey, produced by the Harris Poll in partnership with Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), found that Americans aged 18 to 34 who say they are comfortable interacting with queer people fell from 53% in 2017 to 45% in 2018 — even among those whom the report considers “allies” to the LGBTQ community.
This was the only age group to show a decline in overall acceptance. Women had a sharper decline, falling from 64% to 52%, compared to the 5% decrease among men, from 40 to 35%.
“We count on the narrative that young people are more progressive and tolerant,” John Gerzema, CEO of the Harris Poll, tells USA Today. “These numbers are very alarming and signal a looming social crisis in discrimination.”
Across all subcategories, young Americans became less comfortable with the idea of interacting with gay/lesbian, trans and nonbinary people. The percentage of 18- to 34-year-olds who felt uneasy about a family member coming out increased from 29% to 36%. Even at the clinic, where science and expertise are most valuable, young adults weren’t keen on the idea of being treated by a queer doctor either, with 34% polling as uncomfortable with the situation, compared to 27% last year.
On the other hand, the oldest generation of Americans made great strides in acceptance between 2017 and 2018. For example, although adults age 72 and older were generally less accepting of the notion of LGBTQ history being taught in school, their level of discomfort actually declined from 47%

Very curious... my GenZ daughter is very classic liberal (she and her friends are 15-17 years old and all are the polar opposites of the SJWs they laugh at...) Granted, we’re in a very conservative Florida county, but still — I think many of her generation find the screaming, humorless figureheads of the triggered generation (she particularly despises David Hogg and ‘Triggly Puff’) to be extremely Orwellian, repulsive people.
They just don’t want to be controlled by the ideology of victimhood and sloth.
As far as the LGBTQ population, they just find it oppressive and overly-sensitive, yet bullying at the same time.
I have got to believe that young people are tired of having their noses rubbed in the LGBTQ+ freak show. I think a lot of people are willing to tolerate gay folks who keep their proclivities out of sight and out of mind. But that is no longer the issue. No, now it is Transgender Extremism. And these kids want to know why a biological male can suddenly decide to become a girl and go from literal also-ran into a champion in track.
The more I think about these issues, the more traditional my thinking becomes.
Precisely because their toxic activism, demanding acceptance and vilifying anyone who doesn't, has angered and disgusted everyone including people who previously didn't really care about it.
Unless it's to the point where the fags and perverts fear for their safety to parade their insanity in public, it's nothing like previous years.
Oh, for the good old days, when fruits lived in closets and whenever anyone yelled "INS" messycans ran.
You can trust a poll from GLAAD if you want but I call b.s. They have social, political and economic incentives for being seen as a victim group. No better way to lose your power than implying you’ve achieved the “equality “ and rights you’ve been striving for. This is similar to when the Southern Poverty Law Center redefined hate groups to make white supremacy look like its still a major problem.
They pushed the pendulum too far.

Maybe because people are just sick and tired of having it shoved in their faces day in day out.
