Well today, John McCain surprised us all. And what a delightful surprise it was. Today John McCain introduced his V.P. pick to the world, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. What a refreshing thing to come our way in this political season. If this country ever needed change, it was not in Obama, but in Gov. Sarah Palin. I love this woman!

http://www.mikefrancesa.com/wordpress/?p=1011 The above site has the pictures that document the angry speech. I don’t know what Barack Obama and his speechwriters were smoking but this speech is a disaster. The entire Democratic Convention had no theme and did not attack John McCain enough. This speech is boring, angry, whiny, lecturing, and full of very little specifics. I don’t know who told the Obama’s not to smile but Michelle and Barack are not smiling enough. Barack is coming off as an angry, arrogant, and pretentious candidate. Oh and he just brought out the “recruiting an army of teachers, and paying...

February 16, 2008 More volunteer for bankruptcy as going bust loses its stigma Grainne Gilmore, Economics Correspondent There is increasing evidence that going bankrupt is losing its stigma as consumers struggle with mounting debts. Three quarters of all people who petitioned for bankruptcy last year did so voluntarily, new figures show. While overall bankruptcy petitions fell slightly last year, figures from the Ministry of Justice released yesterday showed more people initiating proceedings. Some 53,114 people petitioned in court to become bankrupt in 2007, up from 52,717 in 2006. Vince Cable, Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman, said: “These figures are clear evidence...

Red Alert On Tolerance by: Malcolm A. Kline, February 12, 2008 Look out children: academics are now entranced by something called “Teaching Beyond Tolerance.” Since their emphasis on tolerance netted us about a couple of hundred restrictive speech codes at about as many colleges and universities, who knows what the new fad will yield on American campuses. Shana Agid and Erica Rand give a preview of coming attractions, sort of, in the latest issue of Radical Teacher. “We wanted to imagine another set of possibilities for educators and students alike, grounded in a different set of assumptions: that so-called ‘hate’...

TUCSON, Ariz. – Defense contractor Boeing Co. has told the government it believes it has solved most of the problems that have delayed use of the first section of a high-tech “virtual fence” along the nation's borders for months. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, however, said they'll wait until acceptance testing now set for late October is done before passing judgment. The 28-mile section of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border in southern Arizona is the first of thousands of miles planned on the nation's southern and northern borders. Boeing personnel who briefed federal officials “sounded real optimistic” about the...

A man arrested by the Bedford County (VA) Sheriff's Office over the weekend has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery. About 5 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Goodwill store on U.S. 221 in Bedford County because a male customer in the store had reportedly fondled two 8-year-old girls. The victims are friends who were visiting the store with relatives. Santos Guzman, 41, was apprehended in the parking lot. Chief Gary Reynolds, a special assistant to the sheriff and the supervisor of Bedford's Child Sexual Offender Registration and Tracking Unit, was off duty but was in...

We have commented on actor Tom Cruise using the media to preach the virtues of Scientology and the evils of psychiatry. He gave interviews about his new film, "War of the Worlds," as long as he was permitted to talk about his religion. But Scientology not only has a base in Hollywood, it has enjoyed powerful friends in Washington. For years, Scientology fought a battle with the IRS because the government would not recognize its claim to be a religion. The IRS finally granted Scientology its desired status under President Bill Clinton, the recipient of massive donations from Hollywood. Now...

In our nation's cultural dialogue we frequently hear the words "tolerance" and "acceptance." They are often used as if they mean the same thing, when in fact they are quite different. Tolerance is when you disagree with others on a particular issue but respect their right to have their opinion and to live according to their beliefs. You may feel uncomfortable about their beliefs, but you can live together in a pluralistic society. Acceptance, on the other hand, is when you agree with others and share their position on an issue. While both tolerance and acceptance are good, they are...

George W. Bush declared victory yesterday in the race for president after a decisive national election that bolstered Republican strength in Congress and led the White House to proclaim that Mr. Bush had won a mandate from the American public for a second term. Mr. Bush beamed as he stood with Vice President Dick Cheney at a rally in Washington four hours after accepting a concession call at the White House from Senator John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who waged a fierce challenge to unseat him. "We had a long night - and a great night,'' Mr. Bush said. "The...

(GoodNewsAmerica.us - Commentary) ATLANTA July 30, 2004 - With a rushed delivery, stepped upon applause, and a river of sweat running down his chin, John Kerry delivered an acceptance speech that was a bevy of lies, omissions, and plagiarized material from President Bush and Vice President Cheney.Kerry reminded us that, "this is the most important election of our lifetime.'' He was right, but that's only the first of two things he got right in the speech. The second was when he said, "the future doesn't belong to fear, the future belongs to freedom". But other than that, it was...

New York Post: John Kerry "Doesn't Get It" When it Comes to the War on Terror. "Give John Forbes Kerry credit for being honest as he accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president last night. Because in his 55 minutes at the mike, he was truthful about how he'd fight the War on Terror. He won't. 'The United States never goes to war because we want to,' Kerry said. 'We only go to war because we have to.' At best, this is a gross calumny: President Bush never 'wanted' war — and it is repugnant even to hint otherwise. At...

What John Kerry's speechwriters say to expect from his address tonight. (Not that they wrote it, of course.)BostonTONIGHT JOHN KERRY will deliver the most important speech of his 30-year-long political career. And Terry Edmonds wants you to know the senator wrote the speech himself. Edmonds, 54, is the Kerry campaign's chief speechwriter and a veteran of the Clinton White House. He spoke with reporters on Thursday morning, along with Bob Shrum, Kerry's chief political consigliere. "A number of people wrote drafts," Shrum said. "But Senator Kerry wrote his speech." Edmonds and Shrum, perhaps the only two Kerry staffers able to...

It's great to be here in Boston this evening. And I want to thank Senator Cleland for that generous introduction. I know you're all waiting to hear those four special words that start with “I” and end with “nomination,” but for America, there are more important things to talk about tonight. First, I have to thank my wife Teresa. Without her disinterested acquiescence, John Edwards might be standing up here tonight, and as I said this past spring, John Edwards is simply not ready to be president. Actually, though, I was in favor of John Edwards before I was opposed...

TO: Interested Parties FR: Marc Racicot, Chairman, Bush-Cheney '04 Ed Gillespie, Chairman, Republican National Committee DT: 7/29/04 RE: Preview of John Kerry's Acceptance Speech After 18 months on the campaign trail and more than $100 million in paid advertising, John Kerry's chief objective this evening will be to introduce himself to Americans. Again. We can expect John Kerry to deliver a well-crafted speech that pleases Democrats and attempts a pivot to more moderate rhetoric designed to appeal to independent voters. If his convention meets the historical standard for moving a challenger campaign in the polls, the Kerry-Edwards ticket will...

Review by Sandra AlexanderThis book reveals where the homosexual movement is taking us, with its "six stages" agenda and attacks on Christian values. We have now entered the fourth stage, where homosexuals are silencing opposing views everywhere. In the Introduction to their book, The Homosexual Agenda, Mr. Sears and Mr. Osten ask the question, “How far down the road have homosexual activists taken us toward their goal of unbridled sexual behavior and silencing of the church?” (p. 14) They then describe the four stages which lead to the moral demise of a culture, stating that the homosexuals, after quickly passing...

'Laramie Project' examines attitudes in community Daniel Gatlin was just a second-grader when he had his first crush. He found himself fancying a third-grader. A boy. Now 18 and a senior at Brewer High School in Morgan County, Gatlin knows what those feelings meant. He's gay. Acknowledging to yourself that you're gay and discussing it in a church full of strangers require different levels of resolution, and Gatlin's managed both. To promote a play by Theatre Huntsville, he was part of the Tuesday night panel discussion "Prejudice, Hatred and Community Responsibility: What Can Huntsville Learn from 'The Laramie Project'?" Some...

CHICAGO (AP) Americans are not just getting fatter, they are ballooning to extremely obese proportions at an alarming rate. The number of extremely obese American adults - those who are at least 100 pounds overweight - has quadrupled since the 1980s to about 4 million. That works out to about 1 in every 50 adults. Extreme obesity once was thought to be a rare, distinct condition whose prevalence remained relatively steady over time. The new study contradicts that thinking and suggests that it is at least partly due to the same kinds of behavior - overeating and under-activity - that...

When Preaching The Bible Is Outlawed, I'll Be An Outlaw By Chuck Baldwin Food For Thought From The Chuck Wagon September 23, 2003 A much under-reported yet critically important news story occurred recently in Canada. On September 17, Canada's House of Commons passed a bill that adds sexual orientation as a protected category in Canada's genocide and hate-crimes legislation. According to many religious believers and free-speech advocates, the bill will criminalize public expression, including Sunday sermons, against homosexual behavior. Those convicted of violating the new law face up to five years in prison. Now, if America were the independent country...

With apologies for posting a vanity, but I wanted to put this theory up for serious discussion. The gay movement in churches does, indeed force people out (along with other divisive liberal issues). I myself have left my life-long church, the Methodists, because of several doctrinal and political disagreements. I have noticed that the gays are not lobbying in the Southern Baptists, nor in the Church of Christ, nor in the Assemblies of God. Now, one would on its surface think that it is because those churches are less susceptible to the message of "inclusiveness." That may be true, but there...

The Three Crosses: The Good Thief or the Cross Accepted FR. LEONARD PUECH On the other side was the good thief. How different the scene, for the good thief shows the cross accepted!
