The official said the Gorshkov is one of the newer Russian warships but noted that "it's probably lucky it made it all the way across the Pacific Ocean."

;-D

It was reported last week that it was accompanied by a heavy tug when it left the Med. I wonder if the tug came with it.

One of the ships that is in it’s “battle group” is a sea going tug. Gotta wonder....

You idiot! Don't you EVER read the excerpts? Fourth paragraph...
Support vessels included the logistics vessel Elbrus, medium sea tanker Kama, and rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, according to the Russian Navy.
"Rescue" tug -- in other words, to rescue the frigate breaks down.

Probably just a training exercise. Venezuela doesn’t need Russian frigates in Havana.

The cruise ships have pulled out because of the travel ban.

So this is Russia’s cheap excuse for grandstanding.

The funny part is that the Cubans don’t like the Russians and Bulgarians because they don’t tip.

I wonder if the tug came with it.

From the story:

Support vessels included the logistics vessel Elbrus, medium sea tanker Kama, and rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, according to the Russian Navy.

They brought their own fuel, food, and ocean-going tugboat. Hoping, apparently, that only one ship breaks down. They didn't bring the Admiral Kuznetsov inasmuch as that piece of nautical scrap is still in Kola Bay being dismembered, probably best for everyone associated.

Thanks. I corrected myself in #5. It does pay to read the excerpts, doesn’t it?

Thanks Jimmy for giving away the Panama canal. I guess the Chinese still run the canal?

It could be worse. We could be sitting on the deck listening to Celine Dion warbling the Titanic theme song and watching for icebergs...in the Caribbean...

We aren’t going to waste ammunition putting them on the bottom of the ocean.

They will probably break down and rust...

Maybe Obama will go to Havana and invite the Russians to watch a ballgame with him.

One LA Class FastAttack would make quick work of the whole formation.
