House Oversight Authorizes Subpoena for Kellyanne Conway Over the Hatch Act

Well, they've gone and done it. The House Oversight and Reform Committee voted to authorize a subpoena for White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway to testify about her potential Hatch Act violations. The panel says that Conway engaged in "egregious, repeated, and very public violations” of the ethics law.

"Here, we have a clear-cut case of a federal employee violating federal law over and over and over again,”  Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) alleged on Wednesday after the panel's vote.

Conway knows what's going on. The Democrats on the panel, she said earlier this week, want to silence her.

"They want a big roll of masking tape over my mouth," was how she put it.

Kellyanne Conway dismisses Office of Special Counsel accusing her of repeatedly violating the Hatch Act -- a law intended to bar federal employees from engaging in political activities while on the job.

The Hatch Act prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activity. The Office of Special Counsel argues that Conway has broken the laws on more than one occasion, including last year when she weighed in on the Alabama special election and more recently as she has mocked some of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates and their agendas. On June 13, the OSC formally requested that President Trump remove her from office.

President Trump came to the same conclusion and assured Conway that her job and her right to free speech will be protected under his watch. To the dismay of the OSC, Trump said she's not going anywhere. The White House had also blocked Conway from testifying.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, called the Hatch Act charges ludicrous.

Americans hate unfairness.

These supposed "Hatch Act" allegations against @KellyannePolls are ridiculous and unfair. pic.twitter.com/F7ZjsXPLGM— Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) June 26, 2019

But one Republican, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), who recently called for Trump's impeachment, voted in favor of the subpoena.

.@justinamash is the only Republican on the House Oversight and Reform Committee to vote yes on a resolution to subpoena Kellyanne Conway for testimony on her violations of the Hatch Act and ethics laws.— Caroline Simon (@carolinesimon66) June 26, 2019

Kellyanne Should use her opening statement to read the allegations against his wife then she should answer any question asked with reading more of his wife’s alleged crimes. Make them regret calling anyone like this up there.

Kellyanne has had to deal with her husband for years ... the Leftist Democrats are pikers in comparison and she will handle them deftly ... no problem!

Next these Democrat loons will try to accuse Trump of violating the Hatch Act. After all, he’s a government employee, too.

But to hear the left & their media lackeys talk,Trump & his advisors, including KellyAnne, shouldn’t be allowed to talk politics or call out threats to our national security, which is what the Dem Party has become.

They should sit back quietly and allow our country & its citizens to be attacked & undermined by real traitors.

The whole Russian “collusion” nonsense was an attempt to sabotage a lawfully elected President’s interactions with Putin, Russians, and world leaders in general.

Such interactions are what he’s SUPPOSED to do, he’s the friggin’ President!

Yes, that’s how I see it— as a humorous act of defiance.

It’s probably just a photo excerpted from a sequence of photos taken with an automatic-shutter camera.

Brilliant, but the camera feed will suddenly have “technical difficulties”.

"The Hatch Act was very clearly not intended for the president’s advisers and assistants, which essentially function as extensions of the president himself, or, at the very least, representatives for the office. That’s why White House staff with the title “assistant to the president,” which Conway has, are granted immunity from compelled testimony before Congress. Jonathan Shaub, a former attorney-adviser in the Office of Legal Counsel, wrote at Lawfare in May that senior advisers do “not have to comply with a congressional subpoena for testimony,” citing an OLC legal opinion in 2014, which has so far held up in the court system. The law was, instead, meant for workers at the IRS, the State Department, the EPA, or the Department of Education. Those are the people you don’t want overtly campaigning in their official capacity on behalf of any candidate.": The Hatch Act wasn't meant for advisers such as Kellyanne Conway, and House Democrats have no case to say it was

Kellyanne gets subpoened, but Samantha Power and her ilk skate for the same practices.

House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings WRT a subpoena for White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway b/c of "egregious, repeated, and very public violations” of the ethics law. "Here, we have a clear-cut case of a federal employee violating federal law over and over and over again,” Cummings (D-MD) alleged.

After Trump stunned the world with his win over Hillary Clinton, the observations of Samantha Power----
a UN Ambassador-----and those emailing her on her official government account.....turned more vitriolic.

The attack on Trump was not individuals acting alone.
The sinister plot was orchestrated by a sitting president with plenty to hide.

The Halfrican desperately needed Hillary to win......to sweep the wrongdoing under the rug. US intel was used for sinister purposes.

REMINDER US intel is there to protect the safety and security of Americans. It is not a political tool.

the vindictive Samantha Powers Unmasked Over 260 Americans During 2016
Red State ^ | 9:00 pm on May 25, 2019 | Elizabeth Vaughn / FR Posted by E. Pluribus Unum

When U.S. intelligence agencies gather information on foreigners, often the name of a U.S. citizen or entity will be collected. Under current U.S. law, information about innocent citizens gathered in this way is referred to as incidental collection. Their names and data must be masked to protect their privacy. Authorized government officials, under certain conditions, may “unmask” the identity of an individual. In October 2017, Powers testified before a closed session of the House Intelligence Committee. Then Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) spoke to Fox News’ Brett Baier afterward and said:

Her testimony is they [the unmasking requests] may be under my name, but I did not make those requests. I think if she were on your show, she would say those requests to unmask may have been attributed to her, but they greatly exceed by an exponential factor the requests she actually made…So, that’s her testimony, and she was pretty emphatic about it.

So, we’ve got to get to the bottom of that. If there is someone else making requests on behalf of a principal in the intelligence community, we need to know that because we’re getting ready to reauthorize a program that’s really important to the country, but also has a masking component to it. When John Bolton served at the United Nations, he “unmasked” the identities of three individuals. In the year leading up to the 2016 presidential election, then-U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Powers unmasked over 260 Americans.

On September 20, 2017, Fox News reported that the remarkable number of Americans who had been unmasked at Powers’ request “was an attempt to uncover associates of President Trump. She was ‘unmasking’ at such a rapid pace in the final months of the Obama administration that she averaged more than one request for every working day in... (Excerpt) Read more at redstate.com ...

(HAT TIP PIASA--Update: JW Sues for Unmasking Targeting Trump Team | Feb 16, 2018 |
Quoting Tom Fitton --- responding to a FOIA request, we were told by the NSC in May 2017 that the materials regarding the unmasking by Obama's National Security Advisor, Susan Rice (onetime UN Ambassador) of “the identities of any U.S. citizens associated with the Trump presidential campaign or transition team” have been removed to the Obama Library.

This is right up there with the allegation theory that Susan Rice forged her UN successor, Samantha Power’s,
name to authorize unmaskings. Obama and HRC ordered the unmasking, and Rice obediently forged the signatures.

Partners in crime......UN Amb Powers, Hillary's successor,
Secy of State Kerry, Obama, NSC's Rice (Power's predecessor as UN Amb).

“Yes, and how about Rosie O’Donnell with her FIVE violations (knowingly) against campaign finance reform! WHEN is she ever going to be charged and punished like Dinesh was???”

One of the popular myths on our side, promoted by Dinesh himself. The two cases are different.

Dinesh donated 20 grand over the limit to a single candidate. He concealed this excess donation by using the names of straw donors to hide what he was doing. That is evidence of a consciousness of guilt that a court wouldn’t miss. This wasn’t a mistake, it was a calculated effort to evade the law. Plus he even admitted to the court that he knew what he was doing.

Rosie didn’t conceal her donations. Her excess donation amounted $5400, spread among 5 races. Had she marked the money as “primary” and “general” in one case her excess would be $1500 less. She was deserving of a fine but there wasn’t the evidence of concealment, which is what got Dinesh charged with a crime.

Dinesh needs to stop playing the victim. He brought this on himself, just like he brought on his own firing from the Christian college that had hired him as their president. There’s a consistent thread in his troubles and it has his name on it.

Now have DOJ indict former officials Comey, Brennan, Clapper, et al. for multiple abuses of power and violations of the Hatch Act. When leftards protest tell them, we’ll let go of your left ball when it bursts and you’re screaming in agony. Then we’ll hang Hillary. Oh, and pardon Conway and Flynn.
