Susan Collins casts her 7,000th consecutive Senate vote

Republican senator from Maine hit another milestone with the first floor vote Tuesday

Tuesday brings a new milestone: The first roll call vote of the day was the 7,000th in a row for the Republican from Maine, who takes pride in having never missed a vote since arriving in the Senate back in 1997.

“Mainers are known for their work ethic and diligence, and by showing up for every vote, I hope that I am carrying out that Maine tradition,” she said in an interview on Monday.

After casting the vote, colleagues from both sides of the aisle commended Collins on the achievement. Perhaps none was more touching than fellow Maine Sen. Angus King, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.

What percentage of her votes were 'wrong"?

Symbolism over substance, right?

She eally should be paying attention to her own state. Portland, ME is becoming a foreign country with all the illegals.

Proof that she has been in the Senate for far too long. She’s a poster “girl” for TERM LIMITS.

She is probably the best thing you can get to represent a New England state. The current make up of the U.S. Senate is 11 solid rats and 1 RINO from that sorry region.

I can’t stand this woman but she does deserve credit for not being lazy with her vote. Has she always talked like she has had a stroke?

Everyone is such a phony.

She shows up for work?! Wow, that's something you don't see every day! Stop the presses, get a special edition out to spread the news!

Oh wait, everywhere but Washington it's required that you actually show up every day or you get canned.

The only highlight of her career was the Judge Kavanaugh speech!

What she said is true, based on the Mainers I know. It’s also true of many midwestern states.

Missing a vote is negligence.

Oh, give them a break. They’re busy sexually molesting people (and / or a variety of farm animals) so they have something extra to spend our money on.

Actually, come to think of it, a random sampling of farm animals would do a far better job running this country than this crop of corrupt losers.

A local radio host (Portland, ME) once described Collins as the type of person you’d want for town clerk.

Angus King gave her a rose? Was it red? The red rose in mailed fist is a symbol for socialism worldwide.

Well, in her defense, she also voted for Neil Gorsuch, the overwhelming majority of the president’s judicial picks, and the Trump tax cuts.

A rat senator would have voted “no” on all of the above, including Brett Kavanaugh.

She’s the last republican in the northeast. We may lose her next year to a democrat. That choice ranking ensures it. We keep losing republican areas little by little. West states like Arizona are next. We used to win in Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. I think things are looking dismal quite frankly.

In a few decades the USA will be a one party (Democrat) party country. That party will have a right wing component.

She’s a Republicant.

According to CR she scores lower than a democRAT. How would that be a “loss”?

I have no doubt about that. The only saving grace MIGHT be the Hispanics who seem like they at least vote for republicans by 40 percent. If we can get those numbers higher, we as a country might survive.
