IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. - An Iredell County deputy attempting to pick up a pre-purchased engagement ring from a Kay Jewelers Tuesday was turned away because his uniform, which contained a service weapon, didnt meet store policy, officials say.
The uniformed deputy used his lunch break to pick up an engagement ring at Kays on Turnersburg Highway in Statesville. The deputy had already paid for the ring and was informed by jewelers that the ring was sized and ready for pick up.
The deputy says when he got to the store, he was told he wasnt allowed to wear his service weapon on their premises.
Its not just an attack on this individual officer, its not just an attack on this agency. Its an attack on law enforcement in general, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
The sheriff says the deputy spoke with the manager, telling them he was in uniform and his marked patrol car was in the parking lot. He said it would be a violation of policy to remove his service weapon while in uniform.
This policy is in place for not only the safety of the deputy, but the general public as well, the sheriffs office said, backing the deputys claims.
According to the deputy, the manager told him he would need to return to the store when he was not armed.
The reaction our deputy encountered is very difficult for us to comprehend, and we earnestly hope situations such as these are few and are diminishing, the sheriffs office

The jewelry chain already has problems with low sales:
“Signet Jewelers
The owner of Kay Jewelers, Jared, Zales and other jewelry chains announced recently that it plans to close about 150 stores. A company spokesman declined to give a list to the Dayton Daily News.”
The national toll free line is open...I feel better
911: "Nine-one-one. What is the nature of your emergency?"
Kays: "We are being robbed! I'm barricaded in the back, they are trying to break down the door! There are three of them and they have guns! Come quickly!"
911: "I'm sorry, ma'am, it is against your store policy for law enforcement to come into your store with their service weapons. Try and make it best you can. Good luck!"

If liberals were meant to think the Lord wouldve given them brains. They continue to justify our contempt.
Piss off, Darren. Your employee was treated the same way any other armed citizen would be treated. Welcome to reality, buttmunch!
Prepaid means ... prepaid as in it is HIS property and not the stores. Thus deliverable upon demand. Once it is “paid” the store can no longer apply additional criteria.
Another option would have to demand a refund for failure to deliver.
Sorry, that is not entirely correct. The area in question is open to the public and is classified as public access, Much like a sidewalk. Areas that are open to the public are not fully "private property". Now if the store were to restrict access to this area, then they can fully enforce their policy.
“Not sure a boycott...”
Agree. It may sound kind of different, but I ran fitness facilities in the military and no one, unless on duty and during an action, was allowed to bring a weapon into the facilities. And this was in the military where that’s what we did. And yes, I did stop some and required them to stow their weapons. During a few times one soldier was required to stay with the stacked weapons while others got in their P.T.

Remember back when “America was great”, and storekeepers loved having armed police frequent their establishments? It kept down crime. MAGA.
Can you say a-s-s-h-o-l-e-s?
Yes, I knew you could.
Are you kidding me???? That employee did NOT misunderstand the policy. It was deliberate and you know it. How many more examples do you need? They cant pass gun confiscation legal so individual lefty companies are doing it by stealth.
and you know that why?
If I was the fiancee I would want to cancel the sale and buy the ring from somewhere my future Husband would be welcome. I would never see the ring as a symbol of our love but as the shameful way he was treated. Plus, it is Kay jewelry and that is unoriginal to start with. Better to buy from a store that carries vintage rings. Just my opinion, I know.
Because a thinking person would never toss a uniformed police officer, gun included, out of their business. Only virtue signaling lefties do that. Dont be obtuse
1. Private property owner has every right to require no fire arms - independent of who is the employer
2. Stupid of such a property owner who will likely be asking for a response during a robbery
