The mass murder in Virginia Beach took place in Virginia Beach Municipal Building 2. Notice the elevated entrance, which prevents drive in car bomb attacks.
The mass murder in Virginia Beach took place inside a secured location. The people inside were forbidden from possessing defensive firearms. It was a gun free zone. The shooter, who worked at that location, had an electronic pass which gave him easy access to the gun free zone.
Coverage of this event was different than previous mass murders in the United States. I mentioned, in an email, that something was different about this event. It took a little while to determine what was different. One thing different is the police decided to focus on the victims rather than on the killer. The decision is a positive development. Police Chief Cervera said, when he released the shooter’s name, that the police would not continue using it in order to keep the focus on the victims. Authorities have not released a photo of Craddock, who is black.
The shooter had no criminal record beyond a single traffic offense, and served in the Virginia National Guard from 1996 to 2002, when he was discharged at the rank of specialist.
I and numerous others have been advocating for reform of media coverage of these events for years. Limiting the coverage of the killer and focusing on the victims are part of the suggested reforms. This incident will go down the memory hole, because for all the talk about “sensible gun legislation”, this guy went through all that.
It’s my understanding, in addition to the NICS deal everyone has to go through, Mr. Craddock had to:
$200 application fee for license, interview with Sheriff or Police, submit fingerprints, and then wait about 6 months to get the permit to purchase or whatever. There’s more, but that ought to be enough to get the point across.
The city (or other) officials, who passed laws forbidding those people their 2nd amendment rights, morally are accessories to murder. They should be considered as evil as the person who pulled the trigger.
The public who interact with these officials should remind them of that on a daily basis.
As if the suppressor being absent, one life would have been saved.
These knee jerk people need to be bitch slapped.
Many laws were broken in this incident, not the least of which was murder.

And he shot most of his victims in the head. The two black men were shot multiple times. One of them was trying to save as many coworkers as he could from what others have said. The other died from multiple gunshot wounds. The shooter looked right through some folks he could have shot. One person told him to “Stop.”

Overall, it must have killed them, Governor Dinwiddie, to have to make such a decision: Run article massively to use a tool against guns, or burry article at all cost to hide the fact it was an attack on innocents by a black Muslim.
