Law enforcement officials recovered a silencer from the scene of Fridays deadly shooting in Virginia Beach. Several politicians have since called for outright bans on private possession of the devices. Here are key facts about suppressors/silencers.
Politicians are calling for a ban on silencers after a disgruntled Virginia Beach, Virginia, city employee used one while gunning down 12 co-workers.
It was reported that the gunman, DeWayne Craddock, 40, used two .45-caliber handguns equipped with extended magazines and one with a suppressor.

Thank goodness they aren’t yet going after the “high capacity silencers” :)
Face it ... every one of us is going to have to give up our assault silencers.
How about using an oil filter to make a “can”?
Yep! Just be sure to Form 1 it with NFA Branch, first ;)
Yeah - they save up all the sound and release it all at once.
Good point. Maybe he had a checking account, a car, a skateboard, a toothpick, tissue paper, laundry detergent, etc. etc. Since he had any of these things they obviously are bad and must be banned according to the logic used by the hateful gun-grabbing swollen and sore vagina's.
Not this crap again....
Yeah, if the silencer hadn’t been there, none of this would have happened.
Of course none of the other gun laws prevented this, even though this guy broke some of the most serious laws we have.
He committed 12 murders. Isn’t there a law against that?
Oh yeah, there is.
A silencer and a suppressor are the same thing. Neither does what it’s name says. A silencer doesn’t stop sound and a suppressor doesn’t stop flash.
When Hiram Percy Maxim invented the suppressor, he referred to it as the ‘Maxim Silencer’ in his patent and marketing materials. The Maxim Silencer was a big hit because of all the advantages it offered. As a result, the word Silencer caught on quickly - and is now used as the legal definition in both state and federal regulations, as well as on all ATF forms.

They are easily made in a typical shop.
about a week ago,on my application with BATFE they made me strike the word suppressor and write in silencer.
The last sentence in the article claims that Trump does not like silencers-AT ALL.
This is troubling.

So once the Army, Marines, US Special Forces, CIA, FBI, US Marshals, Secret Service, and other groups have all destroyed their suppressors, then perhaps we can discuss banning them from civilian ownership and use.
In the mean time we can see if taking away the suppressors from the military and federal employees causes any reduction in crimes, violence, or anything else important.
Interestingly, when a leftist approved shooter murders people we don't hear about the possibility that certain behaviors or beliefs lead to mass shootings. Instead, inanimate objects are to blame.
Actually the "extended magazine" is what they will be going after along with the suppressors. Note that the news reports and leftists all focus on the suppressor and the "extended magazines". So they have a two for one mass shooting.
I'm surprised that the shooter's handlers didn't convince him to wear a MAGA hat, and NRA T shirt, and Cabela's pants when he launched his attack.
How many silencers are used in murder situations?
= = =
Well, in the Movies, it is like, ALL of them.
So what?
What regulation is he proposing?
