Wonder what my old Swiss banker friend thinks of this...he told me about the required stints and how much he hated the mountain bike training and retraining with kit. Alps and all.

This is industrial-grade stupidity. The sole reason why Hitler did not invade Switzerland is because he knew his storm-troopers would have become Swiss cheese. He wanted to, but thankfully (or maybe not thankfully, he should have done it and saved American lives) his goons talked him out of it.
Does this mean that Americans will have to risk blood and treasure to save their sorry arses when history repeats itself the next invasion happens. I’d respect them if they at least made an effort to defend themselves. That includes NATO paying its fair share (that means you Germany).
