The DAs letter says: "Criminalizing poverty is counter-productive for our communitys health and safety. For that reason, this office will not prosecute theft of personal items less than $750 unless the evidence shows that the alleged theft was for economic gain."

Lived in Dallas since 1965.
Looks like I am headed OUT, they can have the illegals, theives, proglibs, queers and crazy homeless talking to street signs all they want.
Looking for some sane area not too far from here, I still have family in the area.

Moynihan's (1993) argument, put forward in his article, "Defining Deviancy Down," was summarized in its subtitle, "How We've Become Accustomed To Alarming Levels Of Crime And Destructive Behavior." Moynihan puts forward the thesis that, "...over the past generation, the amount of deviant behavior in American [End page 100] society has increased beyond the levels the community can 'afford to recognize' and that, accordingly, we have been redefining deviancy so as to exempt much conduct previously stigmatized, and also quietly raising the 'normal' level in categories where behavior is now abnormal by any earlier standard.

Equipment sales lot draws theft. Local law enforcement doesn’t even show up any longer! They tell you to come in a fill out a police report for insurance purpose. they usually take under the deductible, but they do it a couple of times a month.
The bad part is they hide in our driveway to catch speeders! I should get part of that action!
Property is theft! Expropriate the expropriators!

So this DA is saying under $750 dollars is less than petty theft?
