The DA’s letter says: "Criminalizing poverty is counter-productive for our community’s health and safety. For that reason, this office will not prosecute theft of personal items less than $750 unless the evidence shows that the alleged theft was for economic gain."

Lived in Dallas since 1965.

Looks like I am headed OUT, they can have the illegals, theives, proglibs, queers and crazy homeless talking to street signs all they want.

Looking for some sane area not too far from here, I still have family in the area.

“I understand and appreciate that in Texas, the elected District Attorney can control which cases his office prosecutes and those offenses he chooses not to prosecute. Police officers, however, have to follow state law,” [DeSoto Police Chief Joseph] Costa said in a written statement. “I have instructed DeSoto Police Officers to continue to make arrests as necessary to protect our citizens and to help prevent crime, regardless of the initiatives implemented by the District Attorney.”

will no longer prosecute "theft of necessary items" up to $750

What is "necessary" and how many times per day can one steal $750 worth of goods?

Moynihan's (1993) argument, put forward in his article, "Defining Deviancy Down," was summarized in its subtitle, "How We've Become Accustomed To Alarming Levels Of Crime And Destructive Behavior." Moynihan puts forward the thesis that, "...over the past generation, the amount of deviant behavior in American [End page 100] society has increased beyond the levels the community can 'afford to recognize' and that, accordingly, we have been redefining deviancy so as to exempt much conduct previously stigmatized, and also quietly raising the 'normal' level in categories where behavior is now abnormal by any earlier standard.

“Dallas County DA Won’t Prosecute If You Steal Under $750”

Piker. You skate if it’s $1,000 or less in Cook County, IL.

The process costs more then 750. I’d make it under 10,000, but fine triple what was stolen.

Another Soros backed DA just as in Houston.

Said his goal is to end mass incaraceration.

Laws against theft and murder are racist and supress the Democrat vote.

Wait til a flash mob shows up at one of the Walmarts and cleans out all their flat panel TVs with a price tag lower than $750.

Equipment sales lot draws theft. Local law enforcement doesn’t even show up any longer! They tell you to come in a fill out a police report for insurance purpose. they usually take under the deductible, but they do it a couple of times a month.
The bad part is they hide in our driveway to catch speeders! I should get part of that action!

Property is theft! Expropriate the expropriators!

So this DA is saying under $750 dollars is less than petty theft?
