Bravo for him. This is a reminder that there was a time when people could disagree with a person’s views and yet maintain mutual respect, as many of us do with Paglia. She is a liberal lesbian but unlike virtually every liberal lesbian on the planet, she is intellectually honest and objective. This is what academic freedom used to mean.

He fires Paglia, his college backslides into the mediocre community college type school it was before. It was Paglia who made it. After being fired from Bennington, Paglia could not get a job at a prestigious university. She taught prisoners and welfare mothers before getting a job in Philly. It was her books and int’l fame that put this school into a whole different category of educational institution.
He’d be crazy to get rid of her.

I have a lot of respect for Camille. She is a bad-ass, intelligent, funny and so refreshing - a liberal who can think and disagree with people without resorting to long knives. I love her interviews, feminism left her behind to it’s detriment.
