While the world watched in horror at Paris historic Notre Dame Cathedral erupting in flames Monday, the fire is only the latest in a series of incidents that have left social media awash in images of heavily damaged churches. France has been hit with a string of fires at Catholic churches, some of which occurred alongside desecration of sacred objects and acts of vandalism. While the fire at Notre Dame appears to be an accident connected to renovations of the church, the image of the famous spire engulfed in flames is a hard hit on the historically deeply Catholic France, as well as Catholics all over who have seen their religion reeling from devastating scandals, cover-ups and attacks.
While Notre Dame is undoubtedly the most well-known landmark to be affected, Paris second largest church, Saint-Sulpice, briefly burst into flames on March 17, the fire damaging doors and stained glass windows on the building's exterior. Police later reported that the incident had not been an accident.

“I dont think it does any good to lay blame in this until more is known.
That said, I really dont trust the French to give an honest report on the cause, at least not directly.
I agree. Though the timing of it happening this week is suspicious.”
I also agree. Despite any thoughts, strong suspicions circumstances and feelings I have about Muslims and Muslim terrorists, I suspend blame until there are facts/and or evidence. Reason over emotion, unlike the Dems.
Neil Cavuto when he speaks sounds to like Porky Pig
Just listen it is there
Neil Cavuto is not our friend
Are we to believe that a treasured sit such as this cathedral did not have security cameras all over the place?
Someone knows what happened here. All too quick to blame it on an accident, in my opinion. How would they know until it’s been investigated?
The really idiotic thing about this is this kind of behavior from “authorities” and the media actually perpetuates speculation.
They are so afraid they might offend someone they refuse to even entertain the notion it may have been arson, like - I don’t know - the one LAST WEEK.
We are not stupid.
I do but someone has to smack reality into them...........
Most likely a muslim bonehead....../s
So many people are unaware of the constant renovations that have gone on in this cathedral for at least as long as I’ve been alive! Now, today, suddenly an extremely dangerous fire breaks out and all that ignorant people can grasp on to is the report from corrupted western agencies that “renovations are going on.” Why today? Why this week when so many churches have been victims of arson and other misdeeds?
This is essentially the cultural 9/11 for France.
An irreplaceable ancient artifact of French culture obliterated.
Doesn’t take Columbo to suspect arson.
High gas prices are the least of their worries now.
I would tend to agree with this hypothesis. Muslim workers everywhere, infiltrating work crews. They don't like Christian artifacts and want nothing more than to erase it all. It's got to be sabotage by Muslims. French government is too stupid to save their French culture and will lose it all.
Yes, ridiculous! When a fire erupts, minutes matter so it won't get out of control. Firefighters here in the USA understand that. In France, hours don't matter, they take their time responding.
And just what is the largest christian church in America?
Hope it has better security.
Or it will be, just another thing.
Kill all those bastards before they destroy the planet......................
What was being welded on a building made of wood and stone?
That’s what is going to happen...
Terrorism? It is the most Holy Week of the year...
A union worker in New York City? In 1942? Dont think so.
Exactly.
