2,000 year-old Jewish town with ritual baths, olive press, and burial estate found in Eastern Jerusalem.
Impressive remains of a Jewish village from the Hasmonean period, approximately 2,000 years ago, are currently being uncovered in a salvage escavation conducted by the Israel Antiquities Association in the Sharafat neighborhood of Jerusalem, where an elementary school will be built.

From reading the full article, it looks that the Israel Antiquities researchers/archaeological unit has determined that this was an agricultural village Wichita also produced wine and raised doves to be utilized for Second Temple - Era sacrifices, as well as for their eggs and food. It has been my desire since my childhood to visit Israel long enough to absorb what then and now I consider to be the most awe-inspiring cultural and archaeological location on Earth, as my grandmother made several trips there with her church out of California and always brought back souvenirs and local crafts. One of my favorites was a large red t-shirt that read "Israel" in big, bold white letters, which I wore constantly throughout the 5th grade. My mother came to despise it, maybe because she was concerned that it was becoming an obsession of sorts or to make sure I remained in skirts and frills until the customary 6-foot-deep final faceplant. I donned that precious link between myself and the Holy Land until it was rot-thin, my escape from the big-3 abuses I suffered my entire youth at the hands of Desegregation's ultimate goal of 'punishing' anyone whose skin was not chocolate or black-brown. I'm Cajun, naturally tawny and with a few rays can get rather swarthy; but terroristic bullying at the hands of teachers and other students submarined any semblance of self-esteem for the rest of my public school years. I can't rejoice enough that my parents finally stopped the pillage during Thanksgiving holiday in 10th grade, allowing me to finally embark on a fascinating journey, with God's help, to recoup some semblance of 'normality' and restart the exploration, as yet inline, of the Land of Israel and a relationship with my Creator, Jesus Christ.

The current excavation has only exposed just a small part of a larger village that existed to its south. However, despite the small exposure, the finds seem to indicate that the village was of agricultural nature, and among other things produced wine and olive oil, as well as breeding doves.
And when the time of purification according to the Law of Moses was complete, His parents brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord: Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to the Lord), and to offer the sacrifice specified in the Law of the Lord: A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.
