On Monday, tech website Recode published an interview conducted by YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki with Recode's co-founder Kara Swisher, who bemoaned that her 13-year-old son had started watching Ben Shapiro videos, claimed watching the videos was a "gateway drug" to eventually watching Neo-Nazi videos, and said she would remove Shapiro's video’s from YouTube if she could. That prompted Shapiro to fire back on Twitter, "It seems rather illiberal of you to ask YouTube to ban my videos."

Ben Shapiro graduated high school at 16, college at 20, and Harvard Law at 23. What are your intellectual credentials Ms. Swisher?
Do you feel like the people in Silicon Valley have a sense of this, of the impact they have, and are capable of dealing with it? Or will regulatory measures just have to come into place?
Do the tech companies know the impact conservative voices have? Are they capable of dealing with it stopping them?
The YouTube CEO brings the subject back to Swisher's son, to which Swisher responds:

In response to the YouTube CEO's question: "I don't think you're suggesting that we remove him from the platform. Are you?" Swisher responds:
I would, but I can't.
Money quote. She then goes on to make deeply dishonest direct comparisons between Ben Shapiro and conspiracist Alex Jones.
What Swisher is saying is: I am a progressive lesbian, and my right to preserve my identity and what I consider my identity's exclusive ideology not just for myself, but for those around me, and I don't like my son getting an opinion that is different than mine, even if there is nothing illegal about that opinion, therefore I want the people who have a different opinion banned.
This is Stalinism.
But she clearly sees no place for ideological diversity, based on the fact she wants to censor her son from any ideological diversity.
If you think about it, the one thing diversity in age and national origin brings to an organization is differences in thinking, in values, and yes, ideology.
Her grandfather was a high official in the People’s Party (Communist Party) in Poland she still retains both Polish and US citizenship.
Agreed. Modern day book burner. In another age she would have been right there, helping unload them into the fire. Well maybe not. She obviously thinks she knows best. She would have been the one in the library picking which ones to pull off the shelves...

Apparently, it was more complicated than that. The grandfather was not a member of the Communist Party. That was the Polish United Workers' Party. The Polish People's Party was an anti-Communist opposition party.
Once the Communists took over things got muddier. The Polish People's Party was absorbed into the Communist Party. It was hard to say who was the opposition and who was part of the system.
But the grandfather was imprisoned at one point and was denied the right to emigrate.
