On Thursday, the San Geronimo B substation in the center of the country, which supplies electricity to four out of five Venezuelans from the massive Guri hydropower plant, went down.
No date has been set to restart the plant and most workers were told to stay home on Monday
...
Other experts, including Mr. Aguilar, said the magnitude of the blackout indicated the problem was caused by a major failure inside Guris turbines. A Corpoelec supervisor involved in dispatching Guris power said he was told by the plants managers on Thursday that the plants equipment was damaged.

Mr. Aguilar ... said the government has tried to restart Guri four times since the start of the blackout on Thursday.

GTFO Maduro...
Best guess, they've climbed back under their rocks. I'd give odds 10 to 1, we will never hear from them again. Anyone notice that Bernie, AOC, Harris and others have NOTHING to say about the socialist failure of a rich country?
As stated before, Trump needs to bring the argument between free enterprise and socialism to the forefront. It's long past time us financial conservatives promote the failures of socialism. According to some on CNN and MSNBC, they think the word socialism is a new catch-word for conservatives. They need a lesson in ideology. Or maybe, just pick up a f*cking dictionary.
If a turbine breaks, trying to start it again without fixing or replacing it isn’t likely to make things better...
One powerplant for 75% of the country. What could go wrong?
Hats off to central planning...
Perfect! I knew I was missing many Hugo/Maduro supporters. Thank you. Talk about Trump campaign photos if he decides to bring such a failed ideology forward in 2020.
“This looks for all the world like the end game in Atlas Shrugged”.
A lot of what is going on today looks like it comes from “Atlas Shrugged”.
The Venezuelans are doing as well as they are, because they have come to this point rather gradually, over the last 20-50 years.
We can safely assume that Maduro has electricity and lights.

The mansion has a Honda backup generator.
And a chef to make him a gourmet steak dinner ,then a fine cigar and a night of streaming American movies.
Only one interruption for a call telling him a few thousand more gold bars have been stored in Swiss bank vaults for him.
Sure, there’s an end. It will end when they boot the socialists out.
Were the most overweight country in the world. So socialism could..........!
You cant produce oil without electricity.
Oil is what Argentina sells for hard currency.
Anyone selling Argentina major electric components is going to want hard currency in exchange.
Then there is the problem that major electrical components have long lead times. 6 months for large transformers to two years for large water turbines.
This coul be the final straw that breaks Argentina.
On the other hand this could be what turns Argentina in to a Chinese colony.
*** Sounds kind of like Detroit, only larger. ***
More like Puerto Rico. Eleven months without the electricity restored?
On the plus side their carbon emissions are approaching zero.
Argentina?
On the other hand this could be what turns Argentina in to a Chinese colony.
This is a preview of what will happen in the US in fifty years if we do not reign in and defeat these socialist/communists who are being elected to federal office.
I suggest everyone prepare because one never knows what will happen. I personally just bought a generator and will continue to acquire more items needed to survive.

Venezuelans were hit by an EMP [elections made personal].
Yeah. Shut down the EBT cards in a bunch of big cities for a week and watch the fun....
