But the commission didn't give up. Phillips refused to bake a cake for a "gender transition" celebration and was promptly called on the carpet and sued again by the commission. But the Phillips' case has been championed for the last 6 1/2 years by the Alliance Defending Freedom and yesterday, the Colorado Civil Rights Commission dropped their complaint against Phillips after AFD dug up some blatantly anti-religious statements by several commissioners.

Here is the statement made by Alliance defending Freedom (AFD ):

“The state of Colorado is dismissing its case against Jack, stopping its six and a half years of hostility toward him for his beliefs,” said ADF Senior Vice President of U.S. Legal Division Kristen Waggoner, who argued on behalf of Phillips at the U.S. Supreme Court. “Jack’s victory is great news for everyone. Tolerance and respect for good-faith differences of opinion are essential in a diverse society like ours. They enable us to peacefully coexist with each another. But the state’s demonstrated and ongoing hostility toward Jack because of his beliefs is undeniable.”

The fact that one commissioner called Phillips a “hater” on Twitter was already publicly known. But a Colorado state legislator recently disclosed that he spoke in November 2018 to a current commissioner who expressed the belief that “there is anti-religious bias on the Commission.” And just last week, ADF attorneys uncovered statements from a 2018 public meeting in which two commissioners voiced their support for comments that a previous commissioner, Diann Rice, made in 2015. Those comments, which the U.S. Supreme Court sternly condemned in its ruling in favor of Phillips last year, called religious freedom “a despicable piece of rhetoric.”

At the June 22, 2018, public meeting, members of the commission discussed the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling. During that discussion, Commissioner Rita Lewis said, “I support Commissioner Diann Rice and her comments. I don’t think she said anything wrong.” Later, Commissioner Carol Fabrizio added, “I also very much stand behind Commissioner Rice’s statements…. I was actually proud of what she said, and I agree with her…. I’m almost glad that something the Commissioner said ended up public and used, because I think it was the right thing.”

Complete victory?

How many years of this man’s life were wasted? How much did he spend in legal fees? Does he even still have a baking business? How many times was he threatened or harassed?

He has been punished by the process. This is not “justice.” This is a clogged toilet.

Slimy little bureaucrats sent back under their rock. Problem is their reproduction rate in the darkness is astounding and they and their diseased minds will reappear to wreck havoc elsewhere.

While it is good he is done, the “commission” has dodge a bullet by this and will be free to continue to be used as a club against others who don’t tow the sodomite line...

This Commission is inherently biased, and nothing about this will change that or their future actions.

Commissioner Diann Rice:

I would also like to reiterate what we said in the hearing or the last meeting. Freedom of religion and religion has been used to justify all kinds of discrimination throughout history, whether it be slavery, whether it be the holocaust, whether it be—I mean, we—we can list hundreds of situations where freedom of religion has been used to justify discrimination. And to me it is one of the most despicable pieces of rhetoric that people can use to—to use their religion to hurt others.

According to Commissioner Diann Rice, asking someone to go elsewhere to buy a wedding cake equates to the holocaust (which wasn’t religious, BTW, but anti-religious) and slavery.

This is your mind on liberalism.

What a coincidence, the case is dropped at the same time Lickenpooper announces his presidential run.

Had the case gone to trial he would have had the uncomfortable situation of being called to testify as a witness. He would have been revealed as a dishonest hack.

Nothing to see, move along.

Good. The government abuses its power when it persecutes people for exercising their rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.

It does to reward the raging feminazis who give them money and votes.

Great!

Will this set a precedent for all such religious discrimination cases?

The Soviet Union, Communist China, and Nazi Germany suppressed and punished religions, largely eliminating or minimizing all of them. If the Democrats gain the necessary power, they will do the same. All of those Trump haters who left the Republican Party and voted for Democrats in 2018 should be mindful of all of this.

... for not baking a cake for a gay wedding...

Incorrect. He did not refuse to bake or sell a cake, he refused to use his artistic talent to design a cake, which design disparaged his religious beliefs.

There was article printed last year that the amount of bake or cake shops in the vicinity of the 2 fags was MORE THAN 25. Within 25 miles...

The bake shop was OUT of the 75 mile radius. Add another 50 miles from the original 25 mile search grid and there’s an additional 20 bake shops as per Yelp which even makes wedding cakes.

It simply means they INTENTIONALLY targeted the business..

This entire situation happens when Tolerance isn’t enough to satisfy the behavior of others. Two consenting Adults want to do something I find abhorrent, go at it but don’t ask me to support and encourage it.

Nowadays, only agreement and compliance will be “tolerated” by the Left. To simply disagree is now equated with Hate.

Of course hatred has been turned into a Crime. Hate Crime Laws (thought crime) are clearly Unconstitutional, yet they are on the Books and punishable by Law.

Hate is a motive, but it isn’t a Crime unto itself, or at least that’s how it should be in our Constitutional Republic. Just another piece of our Freedom cast aside.

The people that really, REALLY piss me off are the ones who state that your Religion doesn’t give you the right to discriminate, which means if you own a business you must kowtow to everyone that darkens your business door. Well, I was wondering where in the First Amendment it states that your religious rights (which includes “...the free exercise thereof...”) are totally void if you open a business!?!?

It is HIS BUSINESS! He could open it and not serve anyone if he wanted! Sure, he would go out of business and lose money, but that TOO is HIS DAMN BUSINESS!

I think the civil rights laws are some of the worst written laws, because people now think those are more important than our Bill of Rights!! It is STUPID to think that we are in a point in our Country’s lifespan, that you must decide to either own a business where you MUST kowtow to every crazy idea the Liberals decide to throw at you or you must be relegated to just be some underling at someone else’s company!!

As I have stated before, if a business wants to put up a “We Serve Whites Only” sign, then let him! And let him only serve whites - I don’t care! I can assure you that I would NEVER give that idiot a single dime of my money and I would scoff at the owner if I saw them on the street. But it is his business! Let him/her run it the way they see fit and let Capitalism help him succeed or fail accordingly!

THAT is how you get people to stop being racist ashpoles! You hit them directly in their pocketbooks, WITHOUT the Government trying to FORCE them to meet some arbitrary restraints, which will change as time allows (the courts have expanded the “meaning” of civil rights to groups and people that were never listed in the the civil rights)! That is why these were some really screwed up, but well intentioned laws! They were written poorly, and now it is costing us all!

Rita, Carol and Diann. Should be sued, by Phillips, for lost revenue. Their agreeing to the nasty statements indicates a warped sense of Fairness and Justice. I hope they rot for the rest of their lives, fuming over their loss to the Supreme Court.
By the way, Colorado is not the wonderful state I remember from the 70s and 80s. It has been Californicated. And, I remember that the fear was too many Texans on the ski slopes!

Hey Rita, Carol and Diann, you eat $#it...

Colorado is so politically corrupt that its’ government will try to end-run or ignore the Supreme Court ruling.

ADF has to be on guard against these reds using other anti-Christian charges against bakers, caterers, etc.

Remember Hickenlooper isn’t called “Chickenshitlooper” for nothing, marijuana is legal in “Colorado High”, and the Marxists have a serious presence in Denver, Boulder, etc.

Good for Jack Phillips. How old is Phillips? This court war has been going on for years. He may be getting close to retirement age, but I can see that he loves his work.
Best case scenario, is he can sue to recover his court expenses then move out of that state. The courts there seem to have gone fully Blue and unable to judge fairly any more. Perhaps he’s a home owner and has few other assets, not enough to just pick up and go.
