Sitting in an office in Coast Guard headquarters, where the mission is to ensure the safety of the nation, Lt. Christopher P. Hasson took illicit opiates and plotted terror attacks that he hoped would spark a race war, according to the authorities.
To outward appearances, the 49-year-old lieutenant was a suburban father with a desk job supplying Coast Guard ships, who was glimpsed by neighbors coming and going in uniform or walking his dogs with his wife.
But in court filings, prosecutors said he was also a domestic terrorist and self-described white nationalist who studied the methods of the Unabomber, the Virginia Tech gunman and other extremist killers; stockpiled guns and drugs; drew up a target list of prominent cable news journalists and Democratic politicians to be killed; and wrote, prosecutors said, of wanting to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country.
Lieutenant Hasson, who was arrested last week, appeared in federal court in Greenbelt, Md., on Thursday wearing crimson jail clothes, his hair closely cropped. He showed little emotion and declined to speak as prosecutors and his lawyer argued the question of whether he should be released from custody until his trial.

I’m pretty sure 1000 rounds of Ammo isn’t that surprising, if he was a regular at a range; you buy in bulk on the dips in prices, right?
I’m pretty sure at least one guy I work with has at least 10 weapons of various kinds. So 15 probably is not a “large number”.
Average number of firearms in households that have firearms in Montana is 27 to 28. And that stat is at least 10 years old from my CCW class.
Get the feeling everybody shuffled him to the next billet to get rid of him? This happens way too often by supervisors/commanders who don’t want the hassle of having to boot somebody.
When I was a Circuit Defense Counsel I represented an Airman (E2) who was formerly a major, got booted, enlisted after getting booted, made Tech Sgt, got busted to Airman. I handled his discharge. He was a former pharmacist who ended up committing suicide by overdose the night before his discharge. Who was served by continuing to let this sad sack draw a paycheck?
Spark a race war ? Like Jussie ?
I'm reading the case against this guy and I'm just dumbstruck as to what he did.
Visited racist websites? Internet searches? That means nothing. Wrote fantasy fiction that he sent to no one? Is that a crime?
I realize the libs are desperate for anything to get Jussie Smollett off the front pages but C'mon. This is ridiculous.
Tramadol as a drug of choice is hardly comparable to many drugs prescribed for pain. I took it for a time and it was almost nothing. Hardly going to mess up anyones thoughts. This guy was just pissed off and fed up like so many others who see the double standards and hypocrisy demonstrated by our elected officials and law enforcement agencies. He was an idiot to put all this down but I cant begin to tell you what goes through my head when I see certain Democrats and some republicans.
