The Hartford Yard Goats are rewriting the lyrics to Take Me Out to the Ball Game after announcing earlier this month its Dunkin Donuts Park will be peanut-free.
The Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are believed to be the first team to ban peanuts for an entire season.
Peanuts are prevalent at baseball stadiums, making it difficult for children with peanut allergies to attend games. The Yard Goats held two peanut-free games last year where the park banned the item and did a deep clean of the stadium.

I still don't get why peanuts need to be banned because a tiny few are "allergic" to them. If you are allergic to them, then just don't buy them! Don't eat them!
Except as you found out, the “right” also gets worked up on politically-correct issues. It’s amazing how many conservatives buy into leftwing ideology!
You sure did nail it. I didn’t expect to see that here.
I’ve seen it here - particularly when THE CHILDREN are involved.
Do Americans still watch baseball? I assumed they were simply replacing peanuts and cracker jacks with tacos and churros /s
(I’ve been to international friendlies between South American teams where I doubt a single hot dog was sold - but people “tailgating” in the lots were selling South American food right from their grills.)
Should ban hot dogs too. They have nitrates in them.
defective children with peanut allergy should not be allowed out in public.
instead of ruining baseball for everyone, people with peanut allergies should avoid baseball games.
“Perhaps people should seriously investigate why kids all of the sudden have nut allergies in such high numbers, where 40 years ago they were almost unheard of”
Good thought.
‘course it’s more fun for the nanny state to have a nation of infirm citizens and victims than solve problems.
I used to think California was Liberal Loon Central in this country, but the Nutmeg State is really giving them a run for their money.
Buy me some bean sprouts
And responsibly sourced tofu...
people have to realize- most strangers don’t care about your children nearly as much as the parents do.
I find it odd that parents expect it to be so. I worry about my kids- that’s about it.
The pb & j sandwich in a cart probably kept that kid quiet while she shopped. I doubt she was thinking about the global effect of peanut butter and allergies.
That’s right - no one cares about other people’s kids as much as the parents do. People can’t figure that out. But rather than spend endless money on HIV, why can’t we spend a few dollars to figure out why kids are suddenly allergic to peanuts??
Bats, too. One of the oddest baseball plays Ive seen happened about 3 years ago in Philadelphia. The Phillies had a runner on first, and a left-handed batter at the plate. Two things happened simultaneously:
- The catcher saw that the runner had gotten much too far off base, and threw a strong, accurate pickoff throw to first, and
- The batter swung and missed - losing his grip on his bat, which flew into the stands.
Only two people in the stadium - the catcher and the baserunner who was being picked off - did not see that dangerous missile flying into the crowded stands. Like everyone else, the first baseman was transfixed by the sight, and he never moved to catch the ball. It rolled down the first base line all the way to the wall. By the time the right fielder was able to return the ball to home plate, the runner had scored.
Youre the official scorer. How do you score that? Justifiable 4-base error?
My liberal mother in law says because we didnt understand such allergies existed before now.
I’m allergic to red wine. I don’t expect the wine industry to cater to me and find a way to get all tannins out of red wine. I just avoid it.

But is neeling during the National Anthem and/or Pledge of Allegiance still okay?
“...Give me some condoms and homo-sex! I don’t care if AIDS even infects!...”
"..eeeyak"
Id say E-3 if the throw was catchable. Otherwise E-2
