Democrats and the media are protesting that the socialist label doesn’t apply to them...what are they afraid of—the label or their own ideas?
...consider the Democratic agenda that is emerging from Congress and the party’s presidential contenders.
• Medicare for All. Sanders’ plan, endorsed by 16 Senators, would replace all private health insurance in the U.S. with a federally administered single-payer health-care program. Government would decide what care to deliver, which drugs to pay for, and how much to pay doctors and hospitals. Private insurance would be banned.
• Green New Deal. ...this would mean a complete remake of American electric power, transportation and manufacturing. ...as imagined by AOC, all of this would be planned by a Select Committee For a Green New Deal. Soviet five-year plans were more modest.
• guaranteed government job. ...no longer a fringe idea. Obama's Center for American Progres, supports a government job for everyone “to counter the effects of reduced bargaining power, technical change, globalization,”
• new system for corporate control. Warren wants a federal charter for businesses with >$1 B revenue that would make companies answer to more than shareholders. Employees would elect 40% of directors...radical redesign of corporate governance would give politicians and their interest groups new influence over private business decisions and assets.
• Vastly higher taxes. Sanders wants top death tax rate of 77%. AOC wants 70% tax rate on high incomes. Warren wants 2% “wealth tax” on assets >$50 million and 3% >$1 billion
Some readers might think this is all so extreme it could never happen. The leftward lurch of Democratic voters, especially the young, means the party could nominate the most left-wing presidential candidate in U.S. history. If other Democratic candidates oppose any or all of this, we’d like to hear them.

If even a tiny fraction of this lunacy gets enacted, the Republic is going to be a very different place than we have known. The system that provided freedom and wealth creation unknown in the history of man will be crushed out of existence. The totalitarians are on the march.
Our kids and grandkids are going to be paying a dear price for decades of leftist indoctrination in our public schools and universities. The "long march through the institutions" has been very successful and we were somehow powerless to stop it.
I am not afraid of socialism. I am scared to death of socialists. They are mean vindictive, violent, nasty, acquisitive, thieving, intolerant, tyrannical, low life, ignorant, narcissistic, egomaniacal, lazy filth and vermin. In other words, they are sociapathic and most of them are budding psychopaths.
You forgot “murdering.” They inevitably, INEVITABLY turn to murdering the opposition. There isn’t a single case of a despotic regime that didn’t try to rub out the opposition. That becomes the hallmark of all totalitarian regimes.
Americans have to choose between Democrats and civilization. You can’t have both. Wherever Democrats rule filth persists.

Afraid of it? Majority of Citizens LOVE ‘em some Socialism (good gaggle of ‘em even here, on FR): public schools, Dept Of XYZ, FDA\FAA\FCC\DEA....down to zoning laws and requiring ‘permission’ via govt to even work upon your own property (new roof, build a deck). HELL, start\run a BIZ.

Let’s say I am eligible for S.S in a year but I have a heart attack. A costly bypass surgery will save my life and I would be likely live another 25 years thus collecting 1/2 mill $’s in S.S.. Without the bypass I will die within weeks. Which option will be best for the Federal budget?
We are just one election away from loosing the idea of America and self governance. If one of these ding-bat Democrats get elected, I don’t see how it can be reversed. Obama alone created so much damage and introduced so much vitriol into society, I don’t think it can be undone.
Yes. People should think about Death Panels. The Democrats are clearly on board with infanticide. Killing the very young because they are inconvenient? They have no qualms. It’s pretty easy to guess that somewhat older people, with health problems, just won’t be worth much to the socialists. Let them die. Or speed them on their way. I’d be willing to consider it if government showed any ability to do something that is obviously within it’s realm of responsibility, like ENFORCE THE BORDER AND DEPORT ILLEGALS. The uncomfortable reality is that somewhat socialist systems can function as long as the element of diversity isn’t there. Socialism or diversity, liberals, please choose. You can’t have both. Better you didn’t have either.

The Rats are pushing for socialism for only one reason: To destroy the country. We are $21 trillion in debt and they want to launch a financial nuke: Free healthcare for all including illegals which is like saying free healthcare for the entire world, just sneak in.
