Congressional Democrats are ditching House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s ardent opposition to any barrier or wall along the U.S. border with Mexico, as the partial government shutdown continues and President Donald Trump takes his case directly to the border itself.
““If we have a partial wall, if we have fencing, if we have technology used to keep our border safe, all of that is fine,” Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL), the chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), said on CNN.
Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) also backed a barrier along the U.S. border with Mexico.
“Some fencing is useful, some barriers are useful,” Merkley said. “There’s a lot of surveillance technology. I’ve been to some cities on the border that have triple fencing and have more personnel and have the technology to see the people moving in the middle of the night.”
These very prominent congressional Democrats’ message on the effectiveness of a wall or barrier or fence is very different from the coordinated message from Schumer and Pelosi just two nights ago when the two Democrat leaders in Congress said in their response to President Trump’s Oval Office address that the wall would be “ineffective.”
Pelosi called the wall “expensive and ineffective,” something that was an “obsession” of Trump’s–while Schumer bashed Trump’s “ineffective, unnecessary border wall” and said that America does not need a barrier on the border for security. “We can secure our border without an expensive, ineffective wall,” Schumer said in his response to Trump.
It remains to be seen where this fight goes from here, but the fact that many Democrats are messaging in a very different way from Pelosi and Schumer is particularly interesting as the next stages of this battle h

Perhaps if we propose a memorial wall for all the victims who died at the hands of illegals over the past decade(s) we could get some action that way. Come about this issue through the side window instead of the front door.
Maybe a memorial wall with thousands of names on it will get the attention of the American constituency that otherwise buys into the insanity coming from the mouths of the Democrat leadership.
Dems Will lose this one - and have already lost - depends on how much More they want to lose.......additionally the mainstream media has already lost control of the narrative. No one’s listening to them anymore, at least the vast majority aren’t listening to them anymore.
I give the shutdown another week before Trump gets some money. He’ll take what he can and than declare a national emergency to build the rest.
It would be funny if he signs an appropriation to fund the remaining departments and pulls out the EO for declaration on a national emergency. Nancy and Chuck’s heads would explode.

The ‘rats’ position is untenable - their latest zigzag is to say that yes, they voted for a barrier many times previously, but always as part of a comprehensive package of border measures - Trump has suggested such packages, but when Pelosi and Schumer say no up front to a barrier, it negates any chance of coming to an agreement on anything else - ‘rats are going to be more and more isolated and seen as the obstructionists they have been since Trump’s election.....

If these people that they are importing via this invasion would be a Trump type voter all these years the dems would have a wall higher than the Vatican on the border with gun turrets.
If you cannot change the way people vote...change the people!
My take is that the Democrat EBT/Food Stamp base is getting restless.
They KNOW that Americans will do nothing to stop that process. Democrats are helping those folks who hate America. Hold the line, folks, and you will be able to crush conservatives who have opposed you.

Every single person I know who voted for Trump and back him (which is most in my tiny world) have stopped watching the news and still back Trump more than ever! Some have even cut off their sat TV.
Cnn and their ilk once again is a minority ruling the majority! Wonder what the cnn ratings are these days? I feel sorry for most of those people at major Airports I know if I had to travel via a US airport I would have to find a place to sit and wait for my plane w/o hearing Cnn the whole time.
