You just don’t want to actually get educated or do any research to see the reality

Get educated on what? What do I need to learn. 90% of the federal government is unconstitutional. The remainder has too much fraud and waste in it.

it’s easier just to throw out General talking points...

Damn that Constitution and those slave-owning Founders! With its stupid limitations on our power! Why can't we just rule over you stupid NASCAR loving rubes?

Just as the liberals do when these topics come up

Nice projection there! What page from Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals did you get that from? Ok, just stay with your 2 yr old rage and ranting

Who's ranting? I'm happy that I'm not employed by the Federales. I work 2 jobs in the private sector, and still give Uncle Sam a good portion of both of my paychecks.

I worked Christmas eve, Christmas day and will work New Years eve and New Years day but I am not a federal employee so I am not posting about it multiple times like it is some kind of big deal. If I didn’t like it, I would get another job. II think there are way too many fedgov employees and they get paid way too much for what they do.

It’s not that simple. If you have concrete policy ideas , that might be a start.

Oh...Btw, there aren’t enough providers...doctors, nurses, social workers, etc in the private sector either.

Catchb22

There should be a six-year cut-off for all federal (non-military) workers. Working in the federal government SHOULD NOT be a career opportunity or path. The pay should be at or below the equivalent position in the private sector.

I do not agree, but one thing that this would eliminate is that of college debt being completely "forgiven" if they work for the gov. or a non-profit doing secular work for 10 years, and make all 120 payments on time. Which option results in many idealists becoming part of the government, and doing things like determining like who qualifies for SSDI.

I can go on if you like. You remember the constitution where it delineates federal powers. Some of those require bodies in place.

THE PARENT AGENCY FOR THE BOP IS DOJ, NOT HOMELAND SECURITY.

By the way, I support privatizing prisons and eliminating the postal service and DOE and more. But in the case of prisons, the government acts as the “state” and must pay for and oversee incarceration as determined by public courts. So $$$$ will be spent federal employees or no.

You really DONT understand the federal beauracracy....

Yeah, you're right.

How did America survive prior to the creation of many of these departments.

How were kids educated before the Department of Education?
How did seniors get medical care before Medicare and Medicaid?

There are many hardworking professionals in the VA

Is this the same VA you are talking about?

VA bureaucracy continues to protect bad employees, hurt U.S. troops

The vast majority of Americans value their jobs and understand they are accountable for their work. They know that if they perform poorly, there will be consequences, and if they engage in illegal behavior, they will likely be fired immediately.

Things are much different if you work for the federal government, especially at the Department of Veterans Affairs. There, it’s virtually impossible to dismiss bad employees, no matter what they do — even committing armed robbery, watching pornography on the job, or stealing prescription drugs.

More horrendous crimes committed by VA employees here:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/09/19/va-battles-problem-employees-accountability-accusations/90715048/

It's enough to make your blood boil.

Maybe you’re just jealous of federal employees...yeah, the way you refer to the constitution turns it into a talking point..

If yo can’t come up with reasoned response of ideas for change you say “ it’s the constitution”...

Still not ONE policy or change idea, yet, huh?

Yeah, you don’t need to.

Trump freezes federal employee pay

Best news I’ve heard in months, but —- Any bets on how long it will take for a black-robed tyrant to order it unfrozen?

You remember the constitution where it delineates federal powers.

Yes, it also states that the powers of the federal government are few and limited in scope (Madison).

Some of those require bodies in place.

If it's not Constitutional, it's prohibited.

THE PARENT AGENCY FOR THE BOP IS DOJ, NOT HOMELAND SECURITY.

The DOJ itself was created under the Grant administration. Not a Constitutional entity.

so your conclusion is there are NOT many hardworking employees in the VA. I have witnessed some myself.

I worked in a medium-sized prison system. Every now and then we had staff bring in drugs or cell phones or beat up inmates who were restrained. That doesn’t mean we didn’t have a lot of hard working employees, yours truly included.

So...what are YOU doing about it...

Let me guess...NOTHING.

NOT at your local level, not at the state or federal level.

Nothing, but ranting. No efforts. No change.

you’re missing the point. carrying out powers often requires employees. My comment mentioned the delineated and I do not include those employees. I specifically gave examples of departments I would close. All you have to do to cleanse yourself of spin is o say, yes there are essential employees beyond the military and yes the BOP is not in Homeland security. Do those two things and I absolve you of your errors.

“Same with DOT”

Maybe not the DOT, and here’s why:

FAA: Do you want each state to be responsible for airliner certification? How about air traffic control?

FMCSA: Do you want each state to certify each and every motor carrier and inspect every truck on the road to their varying standards?

PHMSA: Do you want each state to regulate the transport of hazardous materials through interstate pipelines?

Can you imagine car manufacturers trying to make cars acceptable for each state? States can’t even agree on reciprocity on most laws, as well as an important Constitutional right, so there is no way they’ll agree on standards currently set and enforced by the DOT.

DOT is one of those rare agencies that should stay, but pared down to essential personnel only. But there are plenty of other agencies and dozens of commissions that can get the axe though.

With the exception, to my mind anyway, of military service personnel, it doesn’t matter how good the rest of the federal employees are. In aggregate, they are unaffordable. They have priced themselves out of the market.

Maybe you’re just jealous of federal employees

BWHAHAHAHA! Pal, I'm not sucking at the government teat for anything. I work 2 jobs. I pay in to the Feds every year because I'm not stupid enough to give the gov't an interest-free loan and get a "refund" back. I would rather clean up s--t from the streets than work for government.

yeah, the way you refer to the constitution turns it into a talking point.

So again tell me, how did people survive before these myriad federal departments and orgs were created? Why do we need a Dept of Education, for example? Do you agree or disagree that the federal government is bloated, spends too much of our money, and redistributes it to losers who don't deserve it?

If yo can’t come up with reasoned response of ideas for change you say “ it’s the constitution”... Still not ONE policy or change idea, yet, huh?

Dude, I just did multiple times! If we abided by the Constitution as written we wouldn't have a fraction of the problems that we have now. There would be close to zero poverty in this country because private, religious, and business charities would step up and take care of those who truly need it. And those who are gaming the system now would be forced to get up off their ass and work or starve.

It's really not that hard to understand. Now go ahead and PING some more FReepers to help you in your losing cause.
