Decorated with hieroglyphs and statues, the untouched burial place was discovered south of Cairo in 'near perfect condition'

Egypt unveiled a well-preserved 4,400-year-old tomb decorated with hieroglyphs and statues south of Cairo on Saturday, and officials expect more discoveries when archaeologists excavate the site further in coming months.

The tomb was found in a buried ridge at the ancient necropolis of Saqqara. It was untouched and unlooted, Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, told reporters at the site. He described the find as "one of a kind in the last decades."

The tomb dates from the rule of Neferirkare Kakai, the third king of the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.

Archaeologists removed a last layer of debris from the tomb on Thursday and found five shafts inside, Waziri said. One of the shafts was unsealed with nothing inside, but the other four were sealed. They are expecting to make discoveries when they excavate those shafts starting on Sunday, he said. He was hopeful about one shaft in particular.

"I can imagine that all of the objects can be found in this area," he said, pointing at one of the sealed shafts. "This shaft should lead to a coffin or a sarcophagus of the owner of the tomb."

The tomb is 10 metres (33 ft) long, three metres (9.8 ft) wide and just under three metres high, Waziri said

“The tomb dates from the rule of Neferirkare Kakai, the third king of the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom.”

for context, if my quick search is correct, the Great Pyramid dates from the time of the second king of the Fourth Dynasty.

I’ve often fantasied over being able to go back into time to places like this just to observe how the people lived.

In a way I wish I were a leftard where I could believe and expect anything I wanted after death, such as the ability to time travel. I’d go back to the early Egyptian days to see if Cleopatra was hot and move on to the dinosaur days to see if T-Rex was mean and vicious, or a feathered fagot like they are making him out today. I think I’ll go down to the democrat HQ tomorrow and sign up for some reeducation classes. It may take a full lobotomy to get to their level, but it would be worth it just to live in a fantasy world.

I hope they peel the little oval “Made in China” stickers off the bottom of each artifact.

I’ve thought about that also, but more to visit and shadow great men....Lincoln, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, da Vinci, Galileo, Michelangelo, and especially Jesus (to name only a very few). Talk about primary sources!

early Egyptian days to see if Cleopatra was hot

Cleopatra lived at the end of the Ptolemy era - comparatively modern times to the Old Kingdom.

From the representative images on coins from the period of Cleopatra, you would need to take along an ample supply of eye bleach ...

To get to the level of modern ‘democrats’ you would need a full brain transplant from a compatible donor from the snail kingdom ...

Chances are that the T-Rex was a feathered mean an vicious faggot ...

but more to visit and shadow great men....Lincoln, Jefferson, Franklin,
Back in the 50s, early 60s, there was a TV show where the host would interview famous men/women of the past. Great stuff.
Have wracked my brain, but can't recall the show's name or host.

Old King Tut
Stephen DeRosa (1923)

Beneath the tropic skies King Tut-Tut-Tut was very wise,
Now old King Tut-Tut-Tut was always gay,
Cleopatra she sat upon his knee, Pat! that’s where she sat.
Now old King Tut was just a nut as you can see,
Still proud was Tut about his Beechnut ancestry.
A thousand girls would dance each day,
With lots of hip-hip-hip-hooray,
In old King Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut, King Tutty’s Day.

His tomb instead of tears, Was full of Souveniers,
He must have travelled greatly in his time–
The gold and silver ware, That they found hidden there,
Was from hotels of ev’ry land and clime.
While going thru’ his royal robes they found up in his sleeve,
The first love letter Adam wrote to Eve.

CHORUS:
In old King Tut-Tut-Tut-enkhamen’s day,
The dancers then in style
Would even make the old Sphinx smile,
In old King Tut-Tut-Tutenkhamen’s day,
On the desert sand old King Tutty’s band
Played while maiden’s [sic] swayed.
They’d dance for old King Tut ‘neath moonlit skies so warm,
They wore such happy smiles and were in perfect form.
They’d dance for him both fat and thin,
He didn’t care what shape they’re in,
In old King Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut-Tut, King Tutty’s Day.
