After an unexpected surge of new users caused some technical difficulties earlier in the week, the new app that some are calling the answer to the ongoing battle between conservatives and Twitter is back up and running, promising to support free expression online.
The platform, called Parler News, is named for the French word meaning to speak, and many are saying it is the next logical move for those who wish to do so freely without fear of being silenced.
Alternative platforms will rise and those who are bold will switch, Parler News founder and CEO John Matze wrote in a post on his platform Monday night. Big tech is not too big to topple, in fact, they are blinded by their size/power and are hurting themselves by ideologically targeting groups. The structure of the app itself closely mirrors that of Twitter, limiting the learning curve for those who choose to make the jump. User posts are limited to 1,000 characters, which other users can then support by voting and echoing, rather than liking and retweeting.
Parlers app description boasts of easy discovery of true-trending comments, posts, and news, promising users that the information they seek wont be censored or slanted. It also notes a self-moderation feature, which allows users to curate their own experiences according to the type of content they want to see, without shutting down the voices of others.
While the platform itself has existed for three months, buzz about the app on Twitter earlier this week prompted thousands of conservatives to download the previously little-known app overnight. These new users include figures like Turning Point USA Communications Director Candace Owens, whose Twitter account was suspended and then reinstated [SNIP]

I set up a Twitter account a few years ago using one of my “junk” email accounts. I tweeted three or four times and that was it. I’ve never been back.
Ping.
I wish President Trump would leave Twitter. They’d go bankrupt. Maybe he needs to hear about this.
If it was not for our President, I would have dropped twitter months ago.

We’ll see how long anti-islam, anti-gay folks are allowed to post on there- If they don’t infact sensor such voices- then the site will likely become like a similar one not long ago where it turned into a vile racist, anti-Semetic anti-US hatefest that noone really wanted to be a part of-
But we’ll see-

I monitor twitter but don’t really tweet. I’ve downloaded this one as well today, but I think they are still struggling with all the increased bandwidth/capacity.
There’s another one called Voat that is supposed to be a replacement for Reddit for the same reasons as I understand.
I signed up for Twitter because of Jimmy Fallon’s funny segment requiring tweets. But since his show is now unwatchable, I have no need to tweet.
You not have to be a member of Twitter to see Trump’s tweets.
Just click outside the signup popup and it will let you continue.
Of course, you cannot forward stories or get notified of new tweets.
All the normal people will continue to use Twitter and the new site Parler will be used only by kooks and malcontents like Proud Boys, Alex Jones, and Laura Loomer
The Trump Organization should create their own platform called Trumper
President Trump goes on it, and he will get millions of new users in months.
President Trump would use with Twitter, but set it up so Trumper would get the news first and them relayed onto Twitter 5 minutes later. That would be smart.
Twitter would be dead in a year if he did that.
A sketchy media outlet that leans lefty is boosting a new outlet for conservatives?
I’ll pass.
Yep.
The pattern is that a committment to free speech will allow Jew-haters and true racists to drive rational users away.
Hope they establish clear rules and enforce them.

Good idea.
What about this name, though:
Trump It
Personally, I don’t think we should restrict the 1st Amendment to just Jews and whites.
