Santorum: Dems have a chance in 2020 if they pick someone ‘unexpected’

Former GOP Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) on Sunday said he believes the Democratic Party could win in 2020 if they pick someone "unexpected" as their party's presidential nominee.

Santorum, asked if there were any potential Democratic candidates he was afraid of, pointed to previous presidential contests, saying all of the Democratic candidates who won were "not the favorite" at the time.

"When the Democrats win, they pick someone unexpected or someone who’s not the favorite," Santorum, a CNN analyst, said on CNN's "State of the Union."

"[Former Presidents] Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter," he listed. "When they pick [failed Democratic presidential nominees] John Kerry or Al Gore or Hillary Clinton, they lose."

"And so I’m hoping for Bernie [Sanders] or Elizabeth [Warren] or somebody like that," he said. "Someone tired, old — [former] Vice President Joe Biden."

"Put them out there, we’ll win," Santorum concluded. "If they pick someone new, then I think they have a chance."

The Democratic presidential primary is expected to be crowded, with dozens of contenders eyeing a bid. Multiple Democrats who have lost previous presidential runs, including Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), have indicated that they will announce in the next few months whether they will run.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on the "State of the Union" panel said that he believes Biden would be a "tough" candidate because of his legacy of centrism.

"The thing I think with the Democratic Party in 2020 is they’re going to end up with a far-left candidate," Kinzinger said, naming Sanders as someone he considers far-left. Sanders is a self-defined democratic socialist.

"If it was a centrist party, I think they’d put somebody up like Joe Biden and unlike Sen. Santorum, I actually think Biden would be a really tough candidate," Kinzinger added.

Biden and Sanders have not yet said whether they are running.

Without realizing it he admitted that the primaries are just for show. I believe Ted was supposed to be the nominee but Trump, who was a nut in the beginning, came in and knocked him off his thrown.

And they’re determined it won’t happen again.

And any whistleblowers will be taken care of. Trump can’t help anyone because there’s no one there to help him help anyone.

I still believe Biden was chosen as reward for Beau protecting Obama from Larry Sinclair.

Never liked Santorum, but he is probably right. The Dems require a candidate that their dependency voters can BELIEVE in. Track records throw shade on promises. They require projection onto an empty screen, which is why an unknown is always their most promising choice.

The Dems have a stable of elderly losers and unaccomplished radicals. Choose the first and the leftist base isn’t excited. Choose a white man and the women/black bases aren’t excited. Choose a radical and make Trump look much better.

Vato O’Rourke fits the projection gambit, he hasn’t done anything of note, and blathers shamelessly. His work experience starts with “punk band” and “live in nanny” and has few actual accomplishments thereafter (the Stones might consider marrying money a full time job, but sitting in Congress is not an “accomplishment” of itself). He has the empty vessels thing covered, but he lacks that critical something, i.e., he’s not black or female and wouldn’t be the first whatever. If he identifies as transgender Nation of Islam, and renames himself/herself, Kwanza Mohammedina X, he might have just what the Dems want.

Opramah has a good shot. But she couldn’t take Trump making fun of her crying on the air umpteen thousand times.

Beto raised a ton of money. Beto didn’t use it to beat Ted. Beto was asked to help other Ds in the last election with all his contributions of campaign money. Beto said no. Beto is married to a billionaire. Just what is Beto going to do with all that campaign money he raised being married to a billionaire?

It’s going to be Beto the candidate that gets white women liberals all a twitter or Harris who might get the black democrats and be Obama 2.0.

Democrats are not going to nominate an old tired person in their 70’s again. And unless Trump ups his game, he’s going to lose. Ranting and raving on Twitter is not going to cut it. These people are out to destroy him and find any and all ways to terrorize him and his family the rest of his life with the ultimate objective to jail him and forever destroy his legacy. He needs top notch legal talent and to take this threat seriously. He should have done this from DAY 1, fully expecting it.

He was warned by Rush, Mark Levin the day after he won in November 2016. There is simply no excuse.

Harris has problems. Just don’t see her as a national candidate. Lots of stuff available out there about her.

Obama ran when the Presidency was open, much harder to defeat an incumbent.

No one heard of Obama until he became president.

Not true. He became well known with his speech to the Democrat convention in 2004. That made him pretty famous before he decide to run in 2007.
