Agree. Also, unfortunately, there are plenty of liberal suburbanites who are living “inside the beltline” who give Wake county it’s liberal bent. I know because my two liberal siblings live “inside the beltline” and get reinforced on their views from their peers in the area.

But I didn’t learn about all the history of the country until after I got out of school and started reading great nonfiction works of history. My appreciation for this country GREW - did not diminish at all.

I can't say I learned a lot of history in school, particularly elementary school. But they did at least touch on high points. I know I first learned of the First Thanksgiving in grade school. We would have decorated our bulletin boards with pictures of Pilgrims and Indians, etc. On Lincoln and Washington's birthdays we had pictures of each of them in the classroom.

At all times, we were taught what a great nation the USA was. The Cold War was in full swing, and the commie nations were always spoken of as tyrannical and cruel.

I did vote for the other 2 bonds. Vocational school and greenways are positive things. But the the public schools around here are like reeducation camps.

“Just remember - Indians with horses or pickups is cultural appropriation.”

And Casinos!!!! At the moment, I am still waiting for The State of California to “approve” my assertion that I am the lone surviving member of a “long-lost" Indian Tribe so I can start construction on my new gambling casino on the “replacement tribal lands” that await me in downtown San Francisco! I guess when I start being chauffeured around in my newly acquired Maybach that may also be deemed to be a cultural appropriation” from the Nazis!

Thank you for your post, especially your inclusion of President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation.

Doesn’t anyone else see the barely clothed whore at the start of the video? Is the ABC site hacked?

George Washington is my personal favorite founding father - in fact my favorite American of all time.

I did not know about his greatness until I read several of his Biographies. He was “the indispensable man” of our founding.

the weapons that they were using were slow to load, slow to Fire, and slow to reload

The Pilgrims were lucky in that the spot they picked to settle belonged to no tribe (or the tribe that it belonged to was wiped out earlier by contact with English fishermen) so neighboring Indians had no real quarrel with them. They never really prospered being completely overshadowed by the much more successful Puritans who came over in huge numbers a few years later.

That said, Europeans have successfully hunted deer for a very long time and while. I don’t know if they were hunting with matchlocks—flintlocks are still ‘fast’ enough shooting to take deer. Second shots at deer, of course were out of the question. Don’t think I’d mind a large lobster for Thanksgiving.

Director of Equity. What a waste of tax dollars. How about a Director of Making Sure Our Students Learn Their ABCs?

But it’s ok for the little Hispanic illegal alien and over stayed visa middle eastern students to make Pilgrim hats?

This week and this week only, meals were “manager’s choice” so wonder what the kids got? Can’t have turkey and dressing advertised because somehow that would be cultural appropriation even though historically no turkey was served at the first Thanksgiving. But, hey, don’t teach the truth.

The state government bureaucracy in all these states is leftist. That includes Texas. I have heard employees of the Texas Education Department say things that made my hair stand on end. Republican governors have not schooled educated or fired all these SJWs in the state bureaucracies.

When I was a kid, we put on a Thanksgiving play for the school superintendent. My indian outfit was made from a brown paper bag “shirt”, construction paper headdress, and a little face paint under each eye.

Just another reason why being a kid in the 80s rocked.

Then came 1971 in Dallas, TX where they had the bright idea of busing the white students across town to attend black schools and black students to white schools. Kids weren’t allowed to attend their neighborhood school that was 4 houses down the street until they were Seniors in HS. Somehow, I was “lucky” to go to my neighborhood school in 8th grade but it was pure hell because of all the bused in violence. Libs are so smart, do’cha know. Can’t leave well enough alone. People should be able to live, work, shop and go to schools in the neighborhoods of their choice. Needless to say, we were part of the white flight outta there in 1972.

Indians with horses or pickups is cultural appropriation.

Nooo. Wistful Indians on horseback peacefully contemplating the plains is a timeless tradition. At least that's what tourist paintings in Sedona tell me.
