PRAGUE The U.S. military has already begun delivering jersey barriers to the southern border in conjunction with plans to deploy active duty troops there, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday as a caravan of Central Americans slowly heads across Mexico toward the United States.
Mattis told reporters traveling with him that details of the deployment are still being worked out but he should have them Sunday night. They will include exactly how many forces are needed.
The additional troops will provide logistical and other support to the Border Patrol, and will bolster the efforts of the approximately 2,000 National Guard forces already there. The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.
National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.
President Donald Trump for the past week has been calling attention to the caravan heading by foot into southern Mexico, but it is still hundreds of miles from U.S. soil.

Don’t forget to include the subversive Mainstream News / Entertainment Media, and their associated cabals of Marxist sycophants. They have all but single-handily brought us to this point - and I don’t believe it an exaggeration to state such as being the case.
BTW, how many “women and children” do you think our military killed during WWII? Do you think those B-17 and B-24 crews did not know they were killing women and children when fire bombing Dresden? Or when they were reducing Frankfurt and Berlin to rubble? The Germans did not even attack us - the Japanese did.
And, concerning the Pacific War, how about our fire bombing Tokyo? We killed more civilians during the multiple incendiary bombing raids on Tokyo than the combined totals killed by our dropping Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Do you think those bomber crews did not understand they were killing “women and children?”
And how about Vietnam and Cambodia? How many “women and children” would you say our military slaughtered in those two countries?
So don’t come at me with that “women and children” propaganda bullsh*t. Because it has no effect on me. I know my history well enough to call BS on your attempt at emotional manipulation.
Those “women and children” attempting to violate our border know full well that they are breaking our laws, and have willingly made a CHOICE to join an invading army. They get what they deserve.
People keep using that phrase, but no one ever says what it means.
How exactly do you "close" an imaginary boundary line between two countries, that is 2,200 miles long?
There is:
The President has it within his statutory and constitutional authority to suspend all grants of asylum, should he choose to do so. This was reaffirmed by the SCOTUS in June of this year, in the case, Trump v. Hawaii, No. 17-965 in the Supreme Court of the United States.
8USC 1182(f) and 1185(a) By its terms, §1182(f) exudes deference to the President in every clause. It entrusts to the President the decisions whether and when to suspend entry, whose entry to suspend, for how long, and on what conditions. It thus vests the President with ample power to impose entry restrictions in addition to those elsewhere enumerated in the INA.
Razor wire and landmines will do nicely. The vultures can have what’s left.
I found this quote conveniently placed on your homepage.
“Democratic nations must try to find ways to starve the terrorist and the hijacker of the oxygen of publicity on which they depend. “ - Margaret Thatcher
Means and methods are far above my pay grade.
That said, my first thought would be a HUGE, deep phalanx of US troops, UNARMED. Wearing face masks and NO name tags.
You’re a Cavalry guy, it is said that Cavalry, properly used is a terror weapon against unmounted troops.
I believe that a strong show of force would discourage most.
Yes, a nice wall would be best, but a human wall could work. And of course, the entire border would have to remain closed for the duration, any imports from Mexico would have to be VERY closely inspected...What a shame about all the fruit rotting...
.
As you already know, the author’s head lives up the author’s a$$.

>> “Are those really gonna work?” <<
Absolutely not!
.
They need to be stopped before they get within 500 feet of the border, and captured as an invading force, then quartered at gitmo to be processed as POWs.
That will work, but only if Mexico allows it OR if we declare war (or some derivative of it).
He could possibly use the war powers act for I think 60 days. Mexico would be pissed but so what.
In most cases of US law, that is correct, but not so with immigration law.
The President is empowered by statute and the Constitution, with absolute authority over ALL matters of immigration.
If he so chooses, he can temporarily suspend the granting of asylum to anyone who illegally crosses our borders.
No, not a 30% tarriff - seize the money, period. Don't let it get transferred in the first place.
Those women and children attempting to violate our border know full well that they are breaking our laws, and have willingly made a CHOICE to join an invading army. They get what they deserve.
WOW!
Hardcore.
So whip out your fruit salad and your gongs.
St Crispin’s Day has just past...
And I do bear the scars to prove it.
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say “To-morrow is Saint Crispian.”
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say “These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.”
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
exactly and it is really easy to deploy. We could have hundreds of miles done in a short time with those trucks which was on that video.
