PRAGUE The U.S. military has already begun delivering jersey barriers to the southern border in conjunction with plans to deploy active duty troops there, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday as a caravan of Central Americans slowly heads across Mexico toward the United States.
Mattis told reporters traveling with him that details of the deployment are still being worked out but he should have them Sunday night. They will include exactly how many forces are needed.
The additional troops will provide logistical and other support to the Border Patrol, and will bolster the efforts of the approximately 2,000 National Guard forces already there. The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.
National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.
President Donald Trump for the past week has been calling attention to the caravan heading by foot into southern Mexico, but it is still hundreds of miles from U.S. soil.

I’ve seen cars drive over those walls. What is the point? Are they trying to stop crawling babies?
DISABLE THE TRUCKS. KILL THE DRIVERS. IT IS THAT EASY.
Unless the entirety of III Corps, XVIII Corps, and 1st Army is mobilizing to head to the border, it is a moot point.
Also throw into that mix Marines and a carrier battle group parked off each coast of mexico.
DISABLE THE TRUCKS.
how many, very few.
Maybe some in the big cities. And the MS13 crowd.
Not going to happen.
Jersey barriers also known as “K-rails” are those concrete barriers used on road construction sites.
They’re 42” tall. They’re good at stopping vehicles, but not so good at stopping people.
5-10,000 people on foot? no weapons (possibly a few).
How many will get across where they try to cross the border? Disperced, it could happen. In even small groups, very doubtful success.
You are probably correct.
But you can only get something if you call for something.
Only a 30% tariff on money transfers?
I propose a 99.5% tariff on said transfers.
All mail heading south of the border should be searched for cash being sent.
good time to test an EMP weapon
They are likely diesel pieces of crap from 1978-1986, with no onboard computers. I don't think those will work on trucks that old.
Trump is going to sign a EO to stop Central Americans from seeking Asylum.
The Invaders are not necessarily Hispanic.
Although, I question how loyal to America any illegal is?
To many do not feel a need to learn English or even work?
way to many crimes that should have never happened had they not been allowed? to stay here illegally.
Originally designed and used in New Jersey. Put crossways across traffic lanes, they stop vehicular traffic — like when the border is sealed shut. On railroad tracks, one just removes a section of rail.
Some Freepers lack imagination and under estimate our President. Apparently they became acclimated to stupid the Hussian Obammy!
And Trump is planning in signing an EO to stop that. People will be processed and sent back, not into the U.S.
I can see POTUS doing exactly that.
He gave dems and others a chance to work with him.
God knkws he tried.
Grey Hueys would be Marines.
Especially if it looked like this:
They didn’t get close enough to
make out the “Sky Ball” up
On the forward chin.
They stayed a quarter mile north
of the fence.
It’s been proven in previous conflicts that a woman or child would kill one of our troops just as well as a hardened soldier would.
It’s also proven that the enemy uses women and children as human shields in order to negate any advantage we may have.
