Newt Gingrich: 'Odds are 2 out of 3' Nancy Pelosi will be speaker
Washington Examiner ^ | October 25, 2018 04:57 PM | Daniel Chaitin

Newt Gingrich said Thursday that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has better odds of becoming speaker of the House than the GOP's front-runner Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

During an event held by the Washington Post, Gingrich, himself a former speaker of the House, suggested that he thinks the Democrats will take the House.

"I think the odds are 2 out of 3 she'll be speaker," he said of Pelosi, who is House minority leader.

"And 1 out of 3 Kevin McCarthy will be," he continued.

Democrats need to flip two dozens seats in the House during the Nov. 6 midterm elections in order to take control of the lower chamber.

Should the Democrats win, Gingrich said he's very confident that Pelosi, who previously served as speaker from 2007 to 2011, will get the speaker's gavel back, citing her long career, connections, and fundraising prowess.

But Gingrich did acknowledge the possibility of a "blow-up."

Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, is weighing another challenge to Pelosi's leadership, and Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., said he would run for speaker if Pelosi does not.

At least 11 Democratic incumbents and dozens of candidates have said they oppose Pelosi for speaker, according to an NBC News tally.

Thanks for all the help Newt.
Someone needs to check the Speaker of the House’s office for a drug stash.
Every time we seem to get a solid leader in it, they loose their place in the Universe.

Yeah. He’s man-spreading her. That’s a sexual assault you know. She ought to bring him up on charges.

A lot of RINOs didn’t run for re-election. As a result, there are a lot of open seats that used to be held by RINOs.

Odds are 2/3 her dementia will prevent her from actually functioning.

They’ll still be dropping the ball if they can’t keep the seat Republican.

Speaking of drugs and lousy GOP Speakers: John Boehner’s latest scam is hawking cannabis “retailer” IPO’s. “Get in on the ground floor! Join our free Webex seminar!”

He was an absolutely worthless POS Speaker. But he seems to have found his calling in the pot dealing business.

Or he’s a defeatist simpleton. It’s one or the other

><

You know nothing of Newt and it’s plain to see. He is far from a defeatist.

And I won’t call you a simpleton.

Newt was one of the few to predict Trump would win. He stated it in August of 2016.

And a lot of them — like my own representative — are RINOs because they represent left-leaning districts. There are at least 25 current GOP seats in districts that Clinton won over Trump in 2016.

I’m pretty sure he just doesn’t want people getting complacent and not showing up on November 6th.

He should stay there.

I thought he told Hannity that he believed that Republicans would keep the House?

I’m pretty sure I heard him say that on Hannity also.

He won the House back in ‘94 by nationalizing the races and giving a voice to national dissatisfaction with the Clintons. This is not the same election at all, but the elections have been nationalized in the GOP’s favor, so in the interests of preserving his bona fides as a Trump supporter from way back, why doesn’t he just STFU until his brain can catch up with his mouth.

I think he’s just trying to make sure people vote and don’t get complacent.

Nancy as speaker. Wow. My mother-in-law lived with us for three years, getting worse and worse. When she started assaulting the children we had to put her away. Nancy is just in the babbling incoherently and thinking she’s talking sense stage. Or is that how she always was? Speaker. Wow. See the Nile?
