Cristiano Ronaldo denies rape claim as 'fake news'

Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed as "fake news" accusations by a US woman who alleges she was raped by the Portuguese footballer in 2009.

In an Instagram video, Ronaldo said: "They want to promote [themselves] by [using] my name. It's normal." Ronaldo's lawyers say they will sue Germany's Der Spiegel magazine, which originally reported the allegations.

The magazine wrote that Kathryn Mayorga had claimed Ronaldo, 33, raped her in a hotel room in Las Vegas. Ms Mayorga, 34, is reported to have filed a rape report with Las Vegas police shortly after the alleged incident. In 2010, she reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronaldo involving a $375,000 (£288,000) payment for agreeing never to go public with the allegations. Her lawyers are now seeking to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.

No one is exempt or safe from these allegations. I obviously don't know the truth in this instance, but clearly with his money he is a big target, and I hope the truth is what comes out in the end.

> Her lawyers are now seeking to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.

What’s the point of a non-disclosure agreement when they still feel entitled to just put it all out there later, and still keep the money?

If there’s one dude on earth I would believe it’s Ronaldo. He has literally billions of women who would drop their pantries for him.

Ronaldo isn’t a chick magnet. He’s a chick magnetar.

That's breach of contract -- obviously she's out of money, but he should countersue her and her lawyers into debtor's prison.

Women are going to make legitimate rape victims claims invalid.

I am absolutely prepared to discount completely, a woman’s claim of assault, if there is only her testimony. I will not send a man to prison on the basis of a claim, absent all other forensic evidence. As a juror, that is my evolving position.

Wonder if she’ll testify against him, wearing a school marm’s blue suit, big goofy glasses and talk like a little baby girl. Maybe she’ll names 4 people who were there & they will all sign sworn statement that they weren’t. Maybe everything she will say is a pack of rehearsed lies scripted for her by slimy lawyers.

Then they will throw Ronaldo out of soccer forever.

the whole point is to destroy one of the foundational documents of any capitalist business - the NDA

but courts should turn it around and rightfully charge the woman and her attorney with extortion. Rather than go to court with a shaky rape charge in the first place, they agreed to a contractual solution. She accepted a business contract - to protect both reputations. One party spending the 1/3-million dollar proceeds and then violating the contract is still breech of contract. It’s like selling your house for half a mil, then coming back 5 years later and suing the buyer for more money because the house now appraises higher.
