Ratings were down in 2017 and 2016 too.
It’s probably down about 25% over 3 years.

Don’t worry I won’t watch a game this year. I maybe watched a couple of games last year but I didn’t actually avoid watching and i was in a betting pool. This year I plan to actively avoid any public place that is playing football on televisions.

“We still have one American patriotic sport left (NASCAR), and the NHL hasn’t gone off the deep end yet either.”

I find PGA Tour Golf fairly patriotic. One poll puts 85% of the pro golfers as Deplorable.

Gosh, I guess I missed it.

Took my wife out to dinner. Very nice new Italian place. Had the pasticcio, which loosely translated means mess, a mashup of several different ingredients. Much more enjoyable having the hot mess on my plate instead of watching the NFL's hot mess.

What are the quarter hour breakdowns? I’d love to see what happened after that commercial aired the first time...

There were drops in NFL TV audiences of around 8% to 10% in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, for a total drop of almost 19% from 2015 to 2017. I expect another drop this year of about the same amount, which would mean the NFL will have lost more than 25% of their TV audience over three seasons.

That’s getting into serious territory and will bring many financial adjustments downward in the future. Some have hope that the NFL can get part of any new gambling revenue as a result of the court decision which will allow any state to legalize sports betting, but there’s nothing certain about that.

You will enjoy your Sunday afternoons a lot more too. Instead of staring at the boob tube for endless hours on a nice day you will find other exciting and rewarding things to do. And never miss a moment of the “action”.

Attendance is also down at Major League Baseball games this year.

That is no growth and an actual loss of 25%. Not good. Wonder how many businesses can operate with that kind of loss? People would be fired for that kind of performance.

Big men trying to hurt each other with felonious assaults, play after play where somebody you can’t see is pushing relentlessly forward for five, perhaps six yards, long passes that are perhaps ten yards wide of the target — I can’t see why millions don’t want to watch this. Frankly, if people weren’t betting on the games, almost nobody would watch.

And there are too many commercials at inopportune times.

For example. After a scoring play they go to a block of commercials. Then we come back for the kickoff, then halt.play for another commercial bloc. It’s annoying to try to watch.

And it takes 3 1/2 hours to play a 60 minute game. There’s too much downtime. Years ago, NFL games usually took less than 3 hours.

You can yawn for a while but that 130 million is down from before and if you continue to pile on 10% drops yearly your days as a viable business are numbered. It won’t be in days or months of course but it will be in a few years.

Further, if I am an advertiser I am going to demand cheaper rates because I can clearly cite numbers showing the demand for your product is slipping annually. When that happens and the next time the NFL and the thug union negotiate a contract is when it all hits the fan because the owners will have to give in to the continued high salary demands or start making deep cuts elsewhere or raise ticket prices even more on the fans.

If they were smart they would fire the commissioner and institute a SHALL stand policy and then punish those who do not severely. It will bring back some of their fans, but some are lost forever because the NFL’s owners and players have shown how they really feel about the country and the fans, they shot them the bird and decided to add and the horse your rode in on to them as well.
