The White House on Monday afternoon re-lowered its flags to half staff after drawing significant backlash for returning them to full staff less than 48 hours after the death of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
Multiple reporters noted on social media that the flags were flying at half staff once again. The White House did not immediately respond to questions for comment on why the change was made.

Without President Trump’s approval, all the military honors would not be happening. Because he could have said, “No.”
His wife is worth 200 million and we the taxpayers have to pay for the military transportation for her husband.

My perception is that the White House made it clear that the military honors are because President Trump ordered it. No caving. He made a point. He is Commander in Chief. senator McCain is dead and in need of President Trump’s favor in order to have his dead ego stroked.
It is protocol for 2 days for a Senator. However, President should have been one step ahead of the media and the haters and just did the half mast until he was buried. I knew that this would be a news media frenzy if he just went with 2 days.

I think the ‘rules’ regarding the flag lowered from the day of announced death till burial for a member of Congress...usually about ten days.
Actually it’s from the day of the announcement of death til burial...for congressional members.....likely two days if they’re retired.
Ivanka is much too young to have remembered the Viet Nam scandals surrounding McCain’s ability to fly-—or to NOT fly well in expensive military planes.
