White House re-lowers flag to half staff to honor McCain after backlash

Are you surprised that Brett Samuel at The Hill neglected to include President Donald J. Trump’s full statement ? Mr. Samuel appears to be a
Phony media whore.
As an American citizen I am appalled at the pomposity of the McCain family. They requested 1-military transportation of Sen. McCain’s remains from Arizona to Washington D.C. 2-Military pallbearers 3-Band support. 4- Horse and caisson transport during the service at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Our President Donald J. Trump graciously agreed to the McCain family requests. Furthermore President Trump asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis and Ambassador John Bolton to represent his Administration at Senator McCain’s service.

My take is that it is best to be magnanimous at times like this and leave the vitriol and criticisms for later. Take the high road in these situations.

You can make yourself look "small" and immature by responding in a small way to people's deaths.

That said, I'm not the president so I can say that McCain had nothing to show for his career beyond surviving in North Vietnam as a POW and returning home. His record is dismal and so should his legacy.

He diminished his character by abandoning his first wife who had waited for him during his imprisonment, and took up with some pretty, rich eye-candy in which to enrich and advance himself.

He's a carpetbagger who was not from Arizona but thought becasue he was married to a rich, Arizonan that he was entitled to run for an open seat.

He got caught with his hands in the cookie jar as one of the Keating Five. Guilty as charged but no punishment.

He admitted he almost switched to the democRAT party á la Alan Spector.

He claimed John Kerry was considering him for a democRATic running mate in 2004.

He not only crossed the aisle to sponsor a bipartisan campaign finance law but he went all the way to the far-end of the Left's bench to work with Russ Feingold, at the time, the most radical, liberal in the democRAT party.

He was for arming the Syrian rebels who turned out to be ISIS terrorists.

He was THE WORST Republican nominee for president in my lifetime in 2008.

But his worst failure and biggest crime of all, is that he was good friends and drinking buddies with that lying, corrupt criminal, Hillary Clinton.

I'm still grasping for something, anything that this man did to benefit the American people in his political career. Nothing comes mind.

It is noteworthy to point out that the members of the Senate who want to name the Senate building after McCain, are the democRATS, led by Chuck Schumer, not his own party, the Republicans.

Another telling item in McCain's tainted legacy.

United States Code Title 4 Chapter 1 section 7 clause m states:

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. By order of the President, the flag shall be flown at half-staff upon the death of principal figures of the United States Government and the Governor of a State, territory, or possession, as a mark of respect to their memory.

In the event of the death of other officials or foreign dignitaries, the flag is to be displayed at half-staff according to Presidential instructions or orders, or in accordance with recognized customs or practices not inconsistent with law.

In the event of the death of a present or former official of the government of any State, territory, or possession of the United States, or the death of a member of the Armed Forces from any State, territory, or possession who dies while serving on active duty, the Governor of that State, territory, or possession may proclaim that the National flag shall be flown at half-staff, and the same authority is provided to the Mayor of the District of Columbia with respect to present or former officials of the District of Columbia and members of the Armed Forces from the District of Columbia.

The flag shall be flown at half-staff 30 days from the death of the President or a former President; 10 days from the day of death of the Vice President, the Chief Justice or a retired Chief Justice of the United States, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives; from the day of death until interment of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a Secretary of an executive or military department, a former Vice President, or the Governor of a State, territory, or possession; and on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress.

The flag shall be flown at half-staff on Peace Officers Memorial Day, unless that day is also Armed Forces Day. As used in this subsection —

O'crap issued a proclamation ordering flags to be at half-staff for Ted "Slaughtering your daughter because if I'm driving she's not surviving" Kennedy that was for 5 days.

Instead of researching protocol, media just figured Senators got interment. The media never does anything on purpose, all there mistakes are just accidents, right fellas?
