Full title: Omarosa acted dishonorably by recording confidential White House conversations – but here’s the bigger problem.

Even if you strongly oppose President Trump and want to see him defeated in 2020 or impeached before then, you should hope his presidential campaign succeeds with its legal action against Omarosa Manigault Newman alleging she violated a nondisclosure agreement. And if she broke any laws you should want her prosecuted.

Manigault Newman – a fired presidential aide and earlier a member of the Trump campaign staff – has set a dangerous precedent by her secret recording of conversations with President Trump and White House and campaign aides. The New York Times reported Thursday that Manigault Newman “is believed to have as many as 200” recordings of such conversations.

If Manigault Newman suffers no penalty for making her secret recordings – and instead uses the recordings to boost sales of her virulently anti-Trump book “Unhinged,” as she is clearly doing now for maximum media exposure – future White House employees will be tempted to follow in her footsteps.

While it is common for White House staffers to write books about the president they served after he has left office, it is far less common to see books coming out while a president is still serving. Whether the disclosures and allegations in “Unhinged” violate the nondisclosure agreement Manigault Newman signed while working on the Trump campaign is a matter still to be determined.

Omarosa Manigault Newman claims audio proves the president wanted to silence her. And I know of no previous White House aides who secretly recorded conversations and then released them to the media. Further investigation is needed to determine if any of these recordings violated the law – and if they did, Manigault Newman deserves to be prosecuted.

Surreptitious recording in the Situation room ought to be illegal if it isn’t already.

The situation room is a SCIF! It’s hugely illegal to have a recording device (or cell phone!) in the room!

To be frank, it takes a low-minded person to do what she did. But of course, D C loaded to the gills with that type.

As a Senior Legal Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, this author ought to know what he's talking about, so I truly hope Omarosa will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

She's worse than dishonest and merely deceitful. She was a threat to our national security. Just think about her lust for money and how cheap of a sell-out she would have been!

I'm certain the White House's background checks and lie detector exams will have to be seriously upgraded in order to ferret out people like Omarosa.

In fact, were I General Kelly, (or POTUS) I'd insist that all West Wing employees with direct contact to POTUS, undergo lie detector exams every 3 months.

AND, all employees entering the Situation Room should be frisked.

(I've been inside the Situation Room)

As long as she turns all recordings over to Weasel Mueller, all is legal.

Totally agree with you.

I truly believe Oma has some screws loose and can’t imagine any sane person doing what she’s done and not only honestly believe they’re right but think they’ll get away with it.

I’ve followed von Spakovsky since the start of the 0bama administration and I’ve never seen anything he’s written turn out to be phony, in my view he’s one of the good guys.

“The situation room is a SCIF! “

From what others have said here the SCIF designation comes and goes. Sometimes the room is classified as SCIF and other times it’s just a conference room.

It is remarkable that none of the media outlets promoting this opportunist’s outrageous claims constantly fail to note that Omarosa was fired by the Clinton administration years earlier for being a lousy employee who could not be relied upon to come to work on time or carry out the basic functions of her job (responding to invitations for Vice President Gore and the Commerce Department). Her superiors were highly critical of her non-performance: “the worst hire we ever made” and “unqualified and disruptive.” Reportedly, she implored Trump to provide her with employment after being rebuffed by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

She should be prosecuted and whoever allowed her to have a cell phone in the situation room needs to be fired and prosecuted as well.

It’s Obvious, that Obsessively, Omarosa is an Obama Operative.

And furthermore, in order for Omarosa to penetrate the White House Situation Room with high tech surveillance equipment, she has to have assistance from someone on the Inside.

Perhaps an Obama holdover or a double agent in the Trump White House had to have aided Omarosa is he espionage efforts.

In any case, we know there were and may be spies and recoding devices in the White House.

“... whoever allowed her to have a cell phone in the situation room needs to be fired and prosecuted as well.”

It has to be someone deep within the Trump White House.

That person is the traitor.
