(CNN)The Department of Defense says the military parade originally scheduled for Veterans Day will be postponed. "The Department of Defense and White House have been planning a parade to honor America's military veterans and commemorate the centennial of World War I," Defense Department spokesman Col. Rob Manning said in a statement Thursday. "We originally targeted November 10, 2018 for this event but have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019."

More time to make it better!
Good. A “Veterans Day” parade, to celebrate our veterans is O.K., but a Soviet, Chinese, North Korean style parade demonstrating our military prowess gets a no from me.
Methinks that it wasn’t the “military” that decided to postpone the parade.
Methinks (me thinks a lot) that it was Trump who told the military to postpone the parade.
That eliminates any ammunition (pun intended) from the democrats potential use of the parade as weapon (pun intended again) against republicans this November. Trump will get it going in 2019, as stated.
But then again, we don’t need any stinking parade, so scrap it altogether. I think the whole world, including our enemies, already understand that we have the biggest and deadliest military around, so, no need for shows to tell them.
they should say they are holding it then cancel about 2 hours so only the violent left shows up and does their violent left things in full view.
It is NOT “Trump’s parade”. It is a military parade that is just being postponed, because they are not quite ready. No big deal.
Just the MSM is trying to make something of nothing, just to try to make President Trump look bad.
Either CNN or Defense Department spokesman Col. Rob Manning got it wrong ?
November 10 is Marine Corps B’day.
November 11 is Veterans Day\Armistice Day
> It is a military parade that is just being postponed, because they are not quite ready. <
A measured parade would be appropriate, as this year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of WW I. We are almost three months away from November 11th. That’s plenty of time to get ready.
I would guess that a top sergeant could organize a decent parade in about two weeks. So yeah, there’s plenty of time to get ready.
Something else is going on here.
It’s the 100 anniversary of the end of WWI. It was the war that turned the United States into a world power. What you really should b outraged over is that this is a milatary that is supposed to deploy anywhere; anytime, but it takes them a year to think about deploying a parade? How hard is a parade.
Wait until after Midterms. It will give the Dems less to complain about.
Meanwhile, I don’t see how or why the estimated cost went from $12. Million, skyrocketing to over $92.Million!!!
A downsized parade would do just fine. We don’t have to include the tanks, if that’s what is adding to the expense.
bump
... maybe a delay due to arrangements for 'special guests'.
I am actually against the parade for fiscal reasons. A debtor nation should be very careful in how it spends its money.
But a parade marking the 100th anniversary of the end of WW I somehow seems appropriate. Nothing flashy. I’d ask every Allied nation in that war to send a small military contingent to march.
Perhaps the parade could start at some appropriate place, and end at Arlington National Cemetery.
President Trump should just come down the road from Bedminster, NJ to Raritan, NJ and witness the John Basilone parade. This year its scheduled for September 23rd.
Thousands attend John Basilone parade honoring hometown WWII hero

So to honor out late arrival to the war, all of the allies should send contingents to DC? Paris, maybe. But not DC.
I don’t think it’s worth $92MM. That sounds like wanton spending to me.
Not ready??? The military cant arrange a parade 10 months in advance??? God help us.
So you are saying that most Americans would frown on a parade honoring American Veterans to the point of voting for Democrats in the midterms? How many would vote for Republicahs for initiating a parade to honor them? Screw the criticism of small minded people and do the right thing. The military has withstood 100 years of foreign wars, too many instances of political meddling and idiotic limitations by Washington, social engineering, budget cuts and disrespect by those it protects. Let them have a parade. I’ll be there.
Where the heck did I say that Americans would frown on a military parade? Stop putting words into my mouth (or fingers, as the case might be).
What I am saying is that, it is a lot more important to not give the democrats an ammunition with which to attack republicans during the campaigns for the November election. And, we’ve never needed military parades in order to show pride for them or with them. We can honor and respect and support them without a parade.
