I am actually against the parade for fiscal reasons. A debtor nation should be very careful in how it spends its money.
But a parade marking the 100th anniversary of the end of WW I somehow seems appropriate. Nothing flashy. I’d ask every Allied nation in that war to send a small military contingent to march.
Perhaps the parade could start at some appropriate place, and end at Arlington National Cemetery.
So to honor out late arrival to the war, all of the allies should send contingents to DC? Paris, maybe. But not DC.
At almost every Veterans’ Day parade, we have military or retired military representatives. We don’t need a huge active military parade to show pride in our troops or in our country.
