Bottom line, this is America 2018, your right to self defense is up to the media. If you must use your weapon to defend yourself, you will need to continue to use it to prevent being taken into custody, raped, and beaten.
Strange case. Djreka was obsessed with protecting handicapped parking spots, and I think had threatened somebody else before over this issue. That time, the person wasn’t black and didn’t hit Djreka but just moved to another parking place.
I thought Djreka had overreacted but then when I saw the blow that the younger guy (the black man) gave him, I thought maybe not. The attacker just laid him out. And then the attacker appeared to be turning around, but it almost looked to me like he was going to wheel back for another punch or kick.
I think Djreka was probably a provocative person, maybe a little nutty and obsessive, but the man who clocked him was a bully and violent.
I do not like the FL SYG law as written, for reasons I have explained here before.
But this case has two parts, which are not necessarily the same or even related.
It’s actually a “sit on the ground case”. What SYG says is that the guy who got pushed to the ground had no duty to retreat from the guy who shoved him. Not stepping back was unwise, but the law entitled him to stand there on his two feet and get shoved down.
That’s a separate issue, in this case, from his decision to kill the guy who shoved him.
Actually, I think Drejka qas out of reasonable (not legal bounds in approaching the driver and complaining. He was asking for an altercation of some sort. He just thought his argument was with a woman and did not foresee the big man. If you are armed you do not promote an argument. That is the common sense of it.
Quick to use race here, even in the headline. How many times do they do that for the murders, rapes, robberies and assaults right in their own backyard when the roles are reversed? Never? Surely they are even handed on these things..........right???
The charge is probably appropriate if there is a question of fact for a jury to resolve.
The only reason why it says “white” and “black” in the headline is to stir up riots in the streets.
I wish people would realize, even on this forum, that “stand your ground” has nothing to do with this case as it did not in the Trayvon-Zimmerman case. You can’t retreat when your head is being beat into the sidewalk or when you’ve been shoved to the ground and (theoretically) the person is about to continue the attack.
I didn’t see the deceased go after the defender after the initial push. However, the video cuts out an unknown amount of time and it is possible he moved towards the defender again.
I am not sure why the deceased thought it was acceptable to walk up behind someone and deck them to the ground. This was not a small push...
It will be interesting to see what the jury decides.
While this guy was no George Zimmerman, he WAS wrongfully ATTACKED. Thus I would say he has a 50/50 chance of beating the rap. However, since he is WHITE, he will NOT get a free attorney.

Sometimes, they're all "bad guys". Sometimes, jackasses get involved in aggravated jackassery with each other, and somebody gets killed. And somebody goes to prison.
The best outcome is for all of the bad things (death, injury, prison) to happen only to the jackasses.
