Honestly, it's probably a mixture of both.
Personally, I think conservatives botched the message with their initial denials that there was no climate change. This allowed liberals to get the upper hand and control the message.
The questions that should always be asked about climate change are: Is it catastrophic? Is it necessarily bad? Should we worry about it? Can we fix it and what will this cost? Do we want to pay it?

It’s all true. Many places are experiencing hotter climes. No doubt due to the sun or other planetary situations. Interesting to talk about. Not falling for the “we need to change our evil ways” agenda. We’d be better off doing sun cooling dances and offering sacrifices. Noisy Climate Change Tyrants into active volcanoes is a great start, I think.
The system is massively complex and anything can happen including a lag. But being that they know the Earths climate exactly, it will be simple. Put your money where your mouth is... and if you are wrong...

I’d want to see more effort put into determining the “heat level” of the globe. As it is, we have temperatures taken at or near surface level. And without reference to enthalpy (moist air? dry air?) That can hide a lot of features.
Yeah, they contribute to the problem but don’t like the solution.

Consider this.
Planet earth was formed 5,000,000,000 years ago.
Human records on climate is less than 500 years.
That is a heckuva extrapolation to conclude climate change is something new and man made.
Geologists universally agree we had ice age a few thousand years back. What caused the global warming to melt all those glaciers? Man was still burning twigs to stay warm. Did the cave man burn too many twigs to end the ice age. So laughable and so stupid to think that.

And think of the power generation potential of a series of solar panel arrays set up at the equator, so at all times nearly half of the arrays will be bathed in sunlight, so the generation of power could be shunted ahead at the nightfall terminator line moves across the face of the earth.
With that much power, it would be possible to separate hydrogen from water by electrolysis, and recombine it with the oxygen released in the process, and generate vast quantities of pure water, when reburning the hydrogen on the dark side of the world.
